Now that you've applied to UC Berkeley...

I got the email, too, but I don't think it actually means anything. Why else would they write "Now that you've applied" in such big font?

They probably just sent it to everybody to make it easier on them, haha.

yeah... i got one and berkeleys like my waaaaaaaay reach so take it with a grain of salt kids

i got the email with that subject but when i opened it it was blank....anyone else?

AznChoiBoi8: your html reader (rich text) is probably turned off on your email program. the email they sent out was had graphics.

editrice, do you know how i could check/turn it on using yahoo mail?

i don't know on yahoo, but on hotmail in the tools area it has a option to view with rich text. sorry, that's the extent of my expertise.

me too..its blank..i really don't think it means an acceptance..because i'm a farrrrr reach..but how do we "un-whatever it" lols

maybe the blank means that i'm rejected??..and if you can see it then you're accepted?? i'm going crazy..i hate the wait =[

my friend just called... it doens't mean ANYTHING.. ppl who applied ALL will get that email!

but does anyoen know who to change the settings so that i can view the email..want to know just in case this happens again for another email thanks

ok how about this

did ayone NOT get the email? LOL

oh how i wish it counted for something...

I'm pretty sure it means nothing. Plus, there's really no use in worrying now. We'll all get our decisions in 2 weeks and 2 days. Everyone hang in there!

hey everyone, at my school they tell juniors to take this summer sessions. But why would they email the Seniors and ask them to participate? I mean we are already graduating and don't needany more credits. I think that mean we are in and they want us to get to know the campus. When you click on the link, It says for INCOMING FRESHMAN!!!
I'm not 100% sure but I guess It means something or they wouln;t ask unqualified seniors to take the classes.
I realy don;t know but we shouldn;t get our hopes up :( just wait see what happens.....

If you check this site - <a href="http://summer.berkeley.edu/mainsite/index.lasso%5B/url%5D">http://summer.berkeley.edu/mainsite/index.lasso</a>, and click on "UC Berkeley Student," this is what comes up:

"Almost one half of all Berkeley undergrads enrolled in the spring will attend Berkeley Summer Sessions this year. We schedule the courses you want, recruit the best faculty and graduate student instructors, and offer them in sessions that work for you. You can take a course that interests you, satisfy a requirement, raise your GPA, maintain your financial aid eligibility by making adequate progress for the preceding academic year, or complete a semester's work by attending for the entire 12 weeks of summer."

Maybe it's for spring admits?!?

It probably doesn't mean anything, and we're grasping at straws, but I'm happy I finally got SOMETHING from UCB. It's fun to read too much into things, lol, jk. Hope it's not a cruel joke... ;)

dang! i didnt get it

did not get it :( ????

Hm. We should not consider the fact that most of the people here on CC did get a letter, since it is very skewed in terms of representation. I got the email also, and although I'm wishing that it is indeed a likely letter I have many doubts. If it were a likely letter I'm sure that it would come by mail, and like people have mentioned UCSD sends out emails like this that make it seem like we have been accepted. And I don't think UCs send out likely letters, do they? If

aznchoiboi8: yay! i fixed the problem well not really,i just forwarded the email to my email again and it came in attached form so i just viewed it in html format..hope this helps!

It isn't a likely letter... First of all, everyone here got one (except for a couple of people who probably didn't get it because of clerical errors, I bet). I know this is supposed to be a skewed representation of the populace, but come on. This is BERKELEY. I personally expect to get rejected.

Anyway, from the email:
"The staff here at Berkeley Summer Sessions want to wish you the best of luck with your application and let you know about an exciting summer program we have for incoming freshmen."
NOTE: Doesn't say admission. It's just forewarning ("let you know about").

AND
You'll be charged UC student rates rather than Summer Sessions visiting student rates.
So it's not a program only for incoming freshman. They just want to get money, and if you sign up now, you'll have to go, and they'll get more $$$. It's the business of college summer programs.
