Now What?

(Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, I just created my account.)

I don't know what to do. I graduated with a 1.7 GPA. This is mostly due to being pretty depressed for the first two years of my high school, earning only a .9 for Freshman and Sophomore years. I changed somewhat in Junior and Senior year, and I've earned a (still pretty pitiful) 2.7 consecutively since then. It's not that I'm not "intelligent"- I earned a 25 on my ACT without any prior studying. If I legitimately studied and really gave it my all on a retake I could probably grace a 30 on my ACT.

At one point, I had plans lined up to go to an art school abroad, but a lot of things clicked together and I didn't get in at much the same point I realized I probably wasn't cut for art school.

So... what are my options? Is there any 4 year that would accept me? I have two teachers, both of whom were very close to me and who saw what I could really do, currently writing letters of recommendation. I could also write a great essay.

I know that 2 years of community college is an option, but its an option I want to avoid. I've moved around a lot (once every 1 and a half years was the average), and I've always been "the new kid". I would prefer to go to a 4 year and finally be able to not be the only new one. It might be a pipe dream, but there might be people on here with situations similar to me?

Also, can anyone who has done a community college to 4 year transfer explain what that is actually like?

Thanks for helping.

You need to start at a CC. This situation is tailor made for that. Do well and you can move on to a good four year school.

That’s what I figured, thanks. Do you know if there’s a way I can shorten the amount of time I spend at a CC to be only a year? If I took a few classes and achieved a 4.0 them, would it be possible to be admitted to a 4 year as a freshman?

Once you take classes at a CC, you will be considered a transfer student and not a freshman. Also some schools will not take transfers unless you have accumulated 60 units at the CC. You would need to check with a counselor at your CC regarding your transfer plan and check each school you are interested in regarding their transfer requirements.
