NROTC Admissions influence?

<p>I am a deferred early applicant to Yale and I was recently awarded a 4-Year NROTC scholarship. Yale was listed as my top choice school and is technically the school the scholarship is awarded for. Does anyone know if this will have any admissions pull for the RD round? I'm looking for honest speculation.</p>

<p>No, admissions is need blind so I doubt the scholarship would impact their decision. It would help with your required self-help contribution if admitted though.</p>

<p>ConnorDurkin, Congrats! I’m a ROTC scholarship recipient also with a likely letter to Yale. I know for a fact that the admissions board looks heavily upon that scholarship. Make sure they know about it!</p>

<p>It’s also a fact that what got you the ROTC scholarship also got you into Yale. How much Yale’s decision was based on the fact you were ROTC can only be a guess unless you actually had someone at Yale admissions tell you so directly (which could happen).</p>

<p>I hope that my credentials in themselves could get me into Yale, but being deferred was a bit of a shock. I am hoping that this award and my dedication to pursuing NROTC at Yale will make a difference in their next evaluation of my application.</p>
