me neither. Lets hope thats a good thing.

This is my first post on CC. I also applied for the NSA scholarship. I’m a sophomore (well technically a junior but it’s my second year because of AP) and I’m a Mathematics major. I really, really want this internship. I got a 2110 on the SAT (math 770 reading 680 writing 660) and I have a 3.75ish Gpa. But I’ve never gotten lower than an A in a college math course. My low gpa is because french make me confuzzled =/. I hope these stats are good enough. I’m sorta weak in the extracurriculars, but I was a member of a Youth Leadership program, and they said they wanted applicants who exhibit leadership skills.

Anyway, I’ve been trying not to think about this internship because I’ve been wanting it ever since I got a letter from them in high-school two years ago, and now that it’s so close to the time when we finally get notifications I’m FREAKING out. Anyway, I just thought I’d share my troubles with you all. =)

Has anyone other than potatobrain gotten a response from the NSA?

Tilton, are you saying that you applied 2 years ago and the process has taken this long? Oh I sure hope I misunderstood your post!!! I was hoping my son, who had applied this year, would have a chance at it for his Freshman year in college.

Oh no, lol, I got a letter from them two years ago which informed me of the program. Unfortunately I was a high school senior and to apply for mathematics you have to be a college sophomore, so I had to wait until last November to apply. Sorry for the confusion.

I just got an e-mail today stating that I have advanced to the semi-finalist round and have to complete a lot of other forms! Anyone else?! I’ve been waiting for SO long!

I received a semi finalist response too!!!

Stats: ACT: 28 and a math genius: 36 on ACT math

I didn’t get any message. I guess that’s a pretty bad sign as they most likely sent acceptance emails out in one message. Oh well, I guess it’s on to other things.

By the way, to the people who did get an email. In the address line was there a long list of email addresses or just your own. It’ll help me in figuring out if all the emails were sent at once or individually throughout the day. Thanks.

I got a semi-finalist letter as well.

As to the mass email or individual, its probably a server side script that sends “customized” emails but does so 1 email at a time.

Oh, well then I’ll just try to think positively and hope for the best. Maybe the server side script waits a couple of hours between each email and that’s why I haven’t got it. Or maybe I’m in some big “maybe” pile that they will mull over later. Who knows? I’ll just have to practice patience.

Although if they were going to say no, I figure they’d have said it by now. It seems easier to say “no” than to say “yes” and have to send out all these forms and stuff. A “no” would be a simple one line email.

I got semi-finalist too!

To the people who got the emailss, what are your majors? Maybe they send out emails to all the majors at different times. I’m a college mathematics major. Is anyone else who’s already been accepted the same?

I am Computer engineering major and in high school.

Computer Science major

Thanks guys, you’ve given me a glimmer of hope. =)

I got notified of my status as a Semi-Finalist today.
Now to begin the paperwork(which there is plenty of…)

BTW - Computer Science major.

I also applied as a High School Senior intending to major in Comp Sci. So it could be that. @Tilton372, you should definitely get it because your SAT score is higher than mine! So I’m sure you’ll be just fine!

still no replay :(
I’m taking this as a bad sign.

It might be okay MaskedTwilight. What’s your major? I’m starting to think the computer science/engineering people are getting notified first so if you’re not one of those maybe you’ll get an email sometime later. I too am still waiting.

Has anyone completed their phone interview yet? What should we expect?

I’m a computer science major. Oh well, it’d be best not to mope around.
