Thanks @ThinkOn i’ll try
@pineappple86 I got my notification recently and I noticed that they try to take into account what weekends have SAT or ACT testing which may be part of the delay. In any case, they should contact you soon.
Thank you @ThinkOn ! I was contacted this morning about my interview, which will occur next Saturday. Good luck to your son!
@lilylilyshah Excellent! Good luck and wow them!
Just got my notification for my interview for China summer. I’m suprised they made it the same day as the January SAT.
Is anyone applying from the Tri-State Area?
You’re going to need to be more specific than that… Which tri state area?
NY, NJ and CT. Or more specifically, anyone from NYC.
i’m from jersey
Congrats to all semifinalists and good luck with your interviews!
I’ll be applying next year, and I’m trying to decide which language/country to choose. I know there are some alumni floating around, so I have to ask: Did anyone (especially in the Russian and Korean programs) have significant trouble with learning the basics of their language? How much progress in the language did you make?
Also, I’m worried that Turkey might be cancelled again next summer, I’ve been monitoring the situation closely and it just seems to get worse. I’ve considered Turkey as an option for a gap year after I graduate HS, hopefully it’ll become more stable again.
@northeastgirl24 What program are you applying for?
Russian summer, @zoompython wby?
Thank you @ThinkOn !
@northeastgirl24 Chinese Summer. Did you have your interview already?
yeah, mine was on the 18th in december @zoompython
Oh wow, that’s fast. How’d it go? Any tips? @northeastgirl24
Still no contact from AFS regarding an interview for my son and I understand there is a NSLI-Y interview event in the area this weekend. Given that others in his school already had their interviews last month, am wondering if there was a step that was required of him upon his semi-finalist notification that we missed. But there was nothing right? Nothing for us to “accept” or anything. Just notice of that semi-finalist status, and then you sit and wait for the interview notification. Did he miss a step?
Good grief, an AFS volunteer coordinator just called my son on his cell and asked him if he was available this Saturday. Thank the heavens above…the waiting is over. She sent him an email with a link to schedule a time for the interview. Good luck everyone!
haha yeah, i think i was so soon bc of the Russian visa requirements and i live in a fairly metropolitan area @zoompython
overall, i would say it went well my biggest tip would be to go over your essays again and have a firm understanding of why you want to participate in nsliy,
if youve done that, just be honest and thoughtful in your answers and that should take you far
i didnt think that any of the questions i was asked were too difficult to come up with an answer for
Sounds like it went well @northeastgirl24 B-) Thanks for the tips and good luck for the rest of the process. I Hope you make it as a finalist!
