NSLI-Y Semi-Finalist and College Updates

My daughter is a semi-finalist for the NSLI-Y summer program. She plans on studying Japanese, Arabic and IR at university. She is a QB finalist who wasn’t matched and talked about applying for the program in one of her essays. Should she send updates to schools about this or is this not really an update as she isn’t a finalist? NSLI-Y Finalist notifications start in early March on a rolling basis and probably won’t be out before decisions are made for some of her QB schools.
