NU HPME Cutoff for Application Request Card

Hey new CC here,

I was wondering what the cutoff scores are to get an application for NU HPME. If one has a 36 ACT, 800 SAT Math II, but 750 SAT Chem (below 770 average for program), will he/she not get the application for HPME?

Really appreciate any help!!

@NUHPME Just don’t worry about it. When the link is enabled, all that you need to do is to fill in the required info and they will let you know if you are going to be invited to apply. So there is nothing you are going to loose to fill in the initial request. If you are invited to apply, then you decide based on your complete package, what is your plan, want to apply to HPME or just only to UG etc., Unfortunately it is a pain with NU app process, you need to do it 2 times, one for UG app and one for HPME app.

Yeah I know, but I just want to make sure that I get passed that initial stage with a 750’SAT Chem. If I know for sure that HPME has a cutoff >750, then I could retake to get 770+ Since HPME is my top choice…

Hi! I’m also applying to HPME. I sent in my request card several days ago. I’m just wondering whether you have heard back from them, or when are we going to get the feedback? Thank you!

I thought, it was online form, and you need to fill in some basic info. Then they will send a mail if you are eligible to apply and will give an account where you complete all the app process stuff before Jan 1st. Unless the process has changed this year.

I dont believe there is a cut off based on the scores over 700. However, if your UW GPA not high enough, you may not get one.

Alright thanks texaspg! @FringedIris I’m not sending in my request until I retake the chem sat because I don’t want to risk it. But in the past, they give feedback (if you get the application or not) on a rolling basing i believe. Please let us know if you get the HPME application!

Does anyone know how they’ll notify us if we receive an application? I know in the past it was through paper mail, but it seemed like they wanted everything online this year.

They give you a link to the app after approving your request. You should receive an email stating that you can apply.

It is also tied to your commonapp supplement in the form of a question about whether you have received a clearance to apply to HPME.

@Sparkletree If I remember correctly, even last year it is via a email and that email will have a link. I don’t think we got any thing via paper/postal mail from NU.

@texaspg @GoldenRock Thanks for the info! I’ll be checking my email a lot now ^^

For anyone interested: I sent in my application request on 9/19 and received an email saying the screening committee approved my request w/ the link to my online application about an hour ago. My test scores are 1600 (new SAT), 800 Chem, and 800 Math 2.

I got mine today too! I applied about 5 days ago I think.
