HPME Info?

Hi, I am a junior and am highly considering applying to NU. I just recently found out about their HPME program but I am still a little confused about it. Perhaps you guys can answer some ?'s for me.
- Is HPME the same as "premed"?
- If you apply to NU and for HPME, can you still be accepted into the undergrad school and rejected from HPME? (I don't want to run that risk of getting completely rejected)
- Acceptance rate info on the program itself?

I consider myself a strong candidate for HPME (35 ACT, AP classes, strong EC's, sports, hospital volunteer, etc.)

Thank you :)

Google is your friend. Search these up and you’ll find answers to all of them as the first search result. Maybe not percentage though. What I’ve read is 3000 ask for an application, 1000 are given an application, 200 are asked for an interview, 40 accepted and 32 attend. So about 1.3% acceptance or 4% acceptance which ever way you see it.

Do you ask for an application after admittance to the undergrad school?

Wendeli, do you really think 200 get interviews? Do you remember where you read that? I’ve seen 100-140, but just on CC; the other numbers I’ve see are all on par with yours.

Gatorguy - No, you must request a HPME application before undergrad apps are even due (you CANNOT apply early decision if you wish to apply to HPME). The form to request will be available for you next September and you must turn it in by December 1.
