I had a blast...and NU is for sure where I am going. My hosts stayed in Parc and the parc people were nice but I dont think it is the place for me. I am definetly deciding between Willard and Allison they were very cool. Alos te sorority houses are so pretty they make you want to join :) At around 10, some frat guys 'saved' us from PARC and took us to The Keg....and yeah...u know what happened--but i had a blast and was glad to see that there was a social scene at NU. Oh, also, gotta love Boomshaka...but those graffiti girls....umm...that was...shoking to say the least lol but the boys loved it. we even saw the rock get re-painted haha lol. Im definetly going to consider joinging the College Democrats...I bought their shirt and the guy was like 'u seriously want one!' and he said he was gonna use the $10 on pizza money haha lol although i found it odd that so many people were not for sure coming to northwestern and had like 8 schools to choose from...thats a bit much...but yeah...thanx to the current students that were a blast!

I'm glad you had so much fun! Isn't Boomshaka amazing? If you have any questions about Willard (or anything else), feel free to pm me!

I'm still upset that I didn't get to stay overnight.

Most of the activities during the day were rather boring, although I had some fun talking to current students.

thanx crypt! Yeah, Dorian--you should have stayed over night...thats when the fun is and you get to see what its REALLY like. But if you have any questions you can ask me. I was just wondering--I really would like to stay in willard...but are regular halls good too...like not just res colleges?

Seriously, most of the dorms are great. People who live in Bobb love it. Same for Elder. And Allison. Willard is just kinda unique in my eyes, mostly cause I live here, but ask anyone else on campus and they'll be like "Willard sucks, [insert person's dorm here] is amazing."

one of the frat guys said Bobb was a dump and someone at PARC said everyone thinks williard is cool so the cool people apply for it...I dont know what to believe! lol but I really think I will like Willard because im a social person and like a mix of people--ya know i dont want to stay in a dorm with ONE common interest.

I have definitely heard stories (from reliable sources) about used condoms being found on doorknobs in Bobb.
But I know a lot of people love it there.
I just think Willard is the perfect balance, and a very cool community to be a part of.
You'll probably be happy most anywhere you end up though. :)

Bobb is a dump living wise, but if you are living in Bobb, thats the sacrifice you are making to be in a very social and party-centric dorm. I mean, they aren't gonna spend extra money to make Bobb nice just to have kids go and steal/break/vomit on whatever they've added. So yeah, its a game of give and take

Everyone knows bobb is a dump compared to alot of the other dorms, but its convenient, its close to the frats and close to tech and its one of the biggest dorms on campus, and the most social strictly in terms of drinking/partying. Any dorm like that isn't going to be spectacularly renovated. People continue to live in Bobb though again as sophomores or leave other dorms to live there sophomore year because of the social life. It caters to the work hard, party harder type.

Well im sure its good for sme people...just that one frat guy said it was a dump :) he was humorously honest because he was drunk at the time. Willard still seems like the dorm ill want first dibs on...its not too cliquey like that online dorm critique said it was is it?

Honestly, you hang out with people you live with. It's like that across campus.

can someone tell me what the nicest, non-social, and classy dorm is...one that is quiet all the time ect. thanks!!!!!!!!!!

Boredom Hall lol :) Sorry. I dunno. I stayed over night at PARC and it was nice and pretty much in the quiet side.

Ayers CCI is supposed to be really nice and not super social.

Slivka is the engineering res college; it's pretty quiet because the people there are enginerds :-P. However, it is very north campus, a 2 min walk from all the frats, so it may get a little bit loud. However, if you do decide to party every now and then...

Willard might be good too, because it's south campus which is close to all of the classes and far from all the parties. Again, however, the people i stayed with definitely did nothing but party.

Don't stay in Bobb, for sure. That is a party dorm.

My d is going to the preview on the 24th, 25th. Did any of you travel by yourself from O'hare to Northwestern, and, if so,did you take a taxi or the CTA?

preview night was pretty good. when i went alone, however, i always kept talking to kids with parents. never could find anyone to relate to, which was kind of a bummer. in the end i made some friend, but then i forgot their names :)

my mom freaked out when i talked about the "el" (saves money) so i suggest taking the taxi. fast, efficient, and almost impossible to get lost. get norshore cabs and get their coupon at their website. its 30 with tip one way. if she really wants to take the subway like me, tell her that she will have lots of other chances. just not on preview night. good luck!

i bet his name was steve!

The El is really easy to take.

As a matter of fact, I fell asleep and missed my stop on the way back from Preview NU, and nothing happened at all. Well, I had to walk a bit, but that was it.

I stayed in ISRC from the 18-19th.

I did take the El to O'Hare. It was a pretty long trip, about 1:45. I took the Purple line to the red line at Howard then transferred to the Blue to O'Hare at Washington. It was no trouble, just a bit annoying with humping suitcases up stairs and stuff like that. I'd say it's worth it to save the $40, but that's just me.
