Number of ED Applicants?

Someone may have asked this already, but are there any indications of the size of the ED applicant pool compared to last year?

Larger...smaller....about the same?

Also...does JHU e-mail you when your file is complete, to confirm that there is nothing missing?

I think someone said this year's pool was larger...

The ED pool is larger this year, but final numbers will not be know for another two weeks -- it takes time for all the mail to arrive, be sorted, and be processed. I think I heard expectations place the number in the mid-900s (but that is not definite).

And no, JHU will only contact you if something is missing from your application.

is the pool for first choice bme counted?

I would think so...why wouldn't it be?

That brings up a good point...out of all the ED applicants about what percentage do you think are applying for BME?

I would imagine that it is a considerable amount of people...

Yes the ED BME pool is counted in the total number of ED applicants. And there is no way to determine currently the number of ED BME applicants, since the total ED pool is not determined yet.

can internationals who need finaid also apply ED to JHU.

First, the ED deadline for this year has passed (it was Nov. 15).

Second, from the JHU web FAQs for int'l applicants...

"Is there financial assistance for international applicants?
We offer need and merit based financial assistance to international applicants. Both types of assistance are limited. If you are dependent on receiving assistance to attend Hopkins, you should not apply under the Early Decision option, as awards are not made until March."

In almost every case an ED international applicant who needs aid will be defered to RD.

Hope that helps.
