Numerical Grades

How do colleges convert from numerical grades (like 96,85,ect) to Letter grades (A+,A, ect) or do they just look at the number grades? Would a 83 be considered a C or a B?

id say a 83 is a B-
pretty accurate conversion tho i dont know if colleges use this:
97+ - A+
93-97 - A
90-93 - A-
87-90 - B+
83-87 - B
80-83 - B-
77-80 - C+
73-77 - C
70-73 - C-
must i go on?

ahem i dont think an 83 counts as a B and a B-. Other than that hurrah.
