NVCC transfer- concerns

I've applied to W&M (public policy) for spring 2008. I'm at Northern Virginia Community College at the moment, and my GPA is 3.7. It's nothing spectacular, but it exceeds the college's minimum requirement of 3.5.

I know that W&M is a great school, but I have several concerns relating to "grade deflation." Is it really that bad? What are my chances of getting into a decent grad school if I graduate with less than a 3.0? Is the coursework really as hard as people make it sound?

It's not that I'm afraid of hard work, I just don't want to regret going there if I'm doomed for failure.

Thanks for your help.

Well obviously you aren't going to be doomed if you go to W&M. People wouldn't go to school if they saw all the alumni failing in life. I don't think grade deflation is much of a problem. You actually have to work for your grades and go to class unlike some schools but I've found that I actually agree with most of the grades I received.

Getting into a decent grad school with below a 3.0 will be extremely difficult. If you put in effort and enjoy your classes you should be able to pull higher than a 3.0.
