Interesting article with a ranking of aid by elite colleges. The chart that accompanies the article is most enlightening.

Excellent article, even better chart - thanks for posting!

Nice article. Thank you for your post! :)

Typically I would have believed everything appearing in the
NY Times....the message in the NYT article is believable some
facts depicted in the graphic are not...

2 points from my personal experience this year that I know
are not correct on the graphic are the yellow lines for Duke
and Stanford.

Definitely incorrect. Neither Duke nor Stanford cover "all" the parents costs
as erroneously depicted on the graphic for the income levels. I can say
this with some authority knowing where my family is on the income level
chart and our assets and what was received.

Yet another "soak the rich" initiative. Except that it tends to soak the upper middle class families that are classified as such by virtue of living below their means. I have no problem with a progressive tuition rate, a "sharply progressive" one is a whole different matter.

I think they got the columbia line wrong -- columbia doesn't replace loans for just anyone.

"...Columbia will eliminate loans for all new and continuing students in the College and SEAS who are eligible for financial aid, regardless of family income, and replace them with University grants."

they got me hoping there for a little bit. :P
