NYU 2017 RD FA change and result disclosure pledge thread

Like this thread (<a href="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1460258-nyu-edii-fa-change-result-disclosure-pledge-thread.html%5B/url%5D">http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1460258-nyu-edii-fa-change-result-disclosure-pledge-thread.html</a>) but for RD.

For the sake of future applicants, lets see if the financial aid change theory holds any weight.

In this thread, we'll promise to come back after we receive decisions to see if the financial aid status changing to "2014 award access not available" or any other message has any indication of acceptance.

Here's the format from the previous thread (thanks to colcon0521 and diak18)

"The format should be organized and thorough for RD and next year's analysis.

Decision

School applied to

SPECIFIC award change message

Approximate date of status change

Basic chance stats - Scores, GPA, ECs (to help confirm/deny the merit scholarship hypothesis and to do a basic honesty check)"

I'll start:

TBA

CAS

Aid Year: 2014 - award access not available

~March 7th

SAT: 2300+, GPA: 4.0 (British system, all A* and A), ECs: A few awards, high leadership position, band etc.

TBA

CAS
3.There is no financial aid information found.
4.It’s been like this since I applied

ACT 30, SAT II Bio M 660, Math II 720; 90.38 first three years, and 92 1st semester senior year. A bit above average with ECs and I think I have great essays and recommendations.

TBA

CAS

“2014 - Award Access Not Available”

About 2-3 weeks ago today

SAT: 1930 ACT: 28 GPA: 3.6 W, probably around 3.3 UW. If there’s any chance that I’m getting in it’d be in the fact that I have many EC’s with leadership, have overcome hardship being a URM with a single mom <10,000k, and that I’m being recruited by the NYU XC/Track team.

I hate to be selfish to any of those whose status has not changed yet, but I really hope this yields a positive result. Best of luck to everybody and may our anxieties be put to a rest soon!

1.TBA
2.Steinhardt/CAS
3.Today (SEE BELOW)
4.ACT (superscore 31) Physics 710, Math 710

So can someone please let me know if this could mean acceptance. My FA now says:

"Select Aid Year to View (but nothing is there to select)

There is no financial aid information found."

Just like that. This seems to be different from some others I read. If anyone else has this or knows what it means- please let me know. Thanks.

TBA

CAS

Aid Year: 2014 - award access not available

~ Early March

SAT 1990 GPA: 4.0 (French system, taking the French baccalaureate) Several EC’s with leadership (varsity ski and kung fu team captain, selected for the junior olympics, free lance journalist, soloist in a rock band…), great essays and recommendations I think…
btw, didn’t apply for FA and I’m International.

TBA

Stern

Award access not available

March 7th

29 ACT, 94/100 GPA, lots of EC’s, more volunteering though, great recommendations and unique essays.

TBA

Liberal Studies Program

2014 Award Access not Available

Late February to Early March (2/25-3/04)

31 ACT, 4.1 GPA, a few awards, a bunch of art related extracurriculars (studio drawing, photography, music lessons), working part time, volunteer, etc. Great essay and recommendations from 2 teachers.

1.TBA
2. Tisch-Drama
3. 2014 award access not available
4. late february-early march
5. 2050 SAT, 3.9 unweighted, 5.9 weighted (florida schools weight weird), 300 hours community service, assistant state representative for Florida State Thespians, ok essays, great recommendations, did the Tisch summer program, pretty good audition (fingers crossed), been in over 25 shows, lots of clubs etc.

TBA

CAS

There is no financial aid information found.

It has never changed

1890 SAT, 3.677 GPA unweighted, Band leadership (section leader junior year, drum major senior year), a few musician awards (scored superior and excellent on percussion solos), GSA president at school, part of Science Club and Honor’s club, Collegeboard National Hispanic Scholar (for PSAT), ~40 community service hours, been in several AP/IB classes since freshman year, excellent essays (not to be arrogant but I worked really hard on them), great recommendations from two teachers, low income family (single mother, deadbeat father), and I’m also a Gates Millenium Finalist.

If possible, could anyone estimate my chances of getting into NYU? I got rejected by UChicago and I guess that was fair. They were really tough this year. If I get Gates and admittance into NYU, that would be amazing. I’m so paranoid. However, I do have a bunch of scholarship money from the University of Arizona (where I’m from) but I want to leave home really badly!

@dumbashellteen your GPA is on par, as long you have taken challenging classes in school. Your SAT’s are a bit low, but with you being Hispanic, that should cancel out your sub-par SAT scores. I’d say you should get into CAS; it’s a match. I’ll be a bit shocked if you didn’t.

@J03421: thank you for your honest analysis on my stats… It helps a lot. I’m truly hoping for NYU… I truly have the drive to be a successful person in my life considering no one else in my family has ever attended anything higher than high school. I guess only time will tell!

TBA

3.93 unweighted GPA, 2260 SAT, 35 ACT, National Merit Finalist, etc.; okay extra curriculars, good recommendations, etc
accepted to UChicago already and to the University of Texas

TBA

CAS

2014 award access not available

March 18 (today)

2110 SAT, 31 ACT, 3.7 GPA, National Merit Scholar, National Honors Society, National French Honors Society, features editor of school paper, other EC’s, great recommendations

Good luck everyone!! :)

TBA

CAS

2014 - Award Access Not Available and 2013 - Award Access Not Available (Was accepted into the NYU Visiting Students Summer Program, maybe this is a hint?)

~Feb. 15th

3.4 UW (4 APs), 1980 SAT, legacy, decent ECs with a few leadership positions.

For the record, mine changed and I did not submit any financial aid info

TBA

Gallatin

2014 award acces not available

Last night was the first time I looked

I don’t want to list my stats but they’re good

Question, my daughter’s FA message also changed. It reads as follows :

Select Aid Year to View
Click the aid year you wish to view
2014 New York University Award access not available

It won’t allow me to click on anything though. Is this the message that appears to indicate acceptance, or is this not the message that hopefully means she’s in?

@proudmomx2 That is the message that means acceptance if the ‘theory’ holds true! Good luck!

I should add that this change occurred a couple weeks ago. She applied to CAS.
Her stats are:
33 ACT
4.0 un
4.6 w
1/400
12 AP courses

^ thank you!
