NYU Chances... Here's a tough one!!!!

Okay, here's the thing. I'm attending UW-Waukesha now, in Wisconsin. It's a two year school. My first year totally sucked. I'm talking final probation, the whole nine yards. The past year, though, was better. B's and C's. It brought my GPA up from something really low, like a 1.3, maybe, to a 2.379. Not that good, but not horrible, either.

My dream school is NYU Tisch. I understand that they expect a portfolio consisting of a 10 min short film, a couple of essays, and a sample of screenwriting. If I do well with the portfolio, provide the two letters of recommendation, put down that one of my films won an award when I was a high school freshman, and a band recently signed to Universal Records hired me to record their live show, would this increase my chances and make my GPA not matter as much?

Plus, this is my third year at this school. I was going to transfer to Milwaukee, but I'm sick of not doing what I want to do. I probably have time to raise the GPA a bit.

Thank you!

Because of your grades you wont stand a chance at any NYU program without perfect SAT and ACT scores. And it seems you are just making the bare minimum for the application.

Sounds unlikely but if your portfolio is amazing anything is possible at tisch. Can you afford $55K for 2 years? You won’t get aid.

If I got accepted to NYU, I would find a way to pay no matter what. And I still have time to get my GPA up to a 3.1 maybe. The admissions office weren’t totally helpful, but they said that it wouldn’t be impossible. The only other option I see is the New York Film Acadamy, but I’m not sure that that would be a good option, because you only get a diploma and I’ve heard a lot of mixed things about the campus there. Any thoughts?
