NYU Econ ?

Is it worth applying to NYU CAS for Econ. I currently have a 3.5 at Rutgers NB which can potentially be a 3.6 after this semester but am debating whether to apply to Stern or CAS. I want to try and land a IBanking job. Hows the placement out of NYU CAS? Any Opinions?

I'm currently at NYU pursuing an Econ degree with a pre-business minor. Placement with I-banks is very good, and finding internships with top banks is quite easy. I would pursue a pre-business minor so you have a strong finance and accounting background to supplement your econ degree.

Also, if you're planning on going to business school later and become an i-banking associate, I would go with Econ in CAS.

Is this actually true? Becuase in APril you were pretty skeptical.

PS Ibanking sucks, I kinda heard that from everyone.

Well in April I wasen't at NYU and thus and hadn't met NYU alumni or academic advisors for CAS. Why would I post this if it weren't true?

I-banking does not suck, it is just not for everyone. Doing an internship beforehand can give you a taste of what the job is like and whether or not it is for you.

That's true, so the CAS Econ department isn't really shadowed by Stern in terms of job placement?

Im applying as a Romance Langauge major, and I will probably double up with Math Econ. I have been skeptical ever since seeing that Stern has an Econ department.

Check out this thread, it will answer some of your questions.

is math econ a double major in math and economics?
In the undergraduate prospectus they appear as seperate majors.
Economics
Economics and Mathematics

I would like to major in Romance Languages and Economics but bot triple major in ROmance, Econ, and Math.

Would it be a double or triple major?

I'm pretty sure it's a double...econ and math bascially focuses on the mathematical part of econ rather than the theory.

Yea, just found it, I looked before. Its called a joint Major, you cut off some econ and add on some math. Now for getting in to NYU.

You can major in Economics at NYU CAS with a concentration in Policy or Theory. Theory is the quantative version. Additionally, you can do a joint major of Economic (Theory track/concentration) and Math.
