********NYU ED Class of 2020 Discussion**********

It’s bizarre Albert doesn’t confirm that recommendations have been received. Everything is ticked though and they haven’t contacted me so I’m assuming all is well…

NYU ED1ers, please shoot out and share!

Anyone knows how does NYU recalculate GPA based on the provided transcript?

Thank goodness for this thread! Applied ED to Steinhardt and having anxiety attacked on the daily.

Is it worth applying to tandon school of engineering?

Appled ED1 to CAS!

3.8 UW GPA (4.26 weighted)
8 AP’s + 3 honors courses total
So incredibly nervous.

Oops applied**

CSS profile for ED1er is due on Nov 15…

ED1 to CAS
2090 SAT, 3.6 GPA
Good ECs, essays, personal recs were ok
Really not expecting to get in but I applied ED because it’s my dream school. I’d be shocked and ecstatic to get in.

Anyone want to chance me?
Top 8% of my class. Ranked number 18 of my class of 237.
3.82 out of 4.0 GPA, 1900 SAT (610 Math, 640 Reading, 650 Writing)

Enrolled in a collegiate high school on a college campus. So all of my classes are college courses, i’m on the campus full time and will graduate with my AS as well as my diploma.

I’m applying to Steinhardt for Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health. I have interned with the Wellness Coordinator of my city. I’ve also written a health blog, I’m a female powerlifter of 4 years, and I used to be a personal trainer.

I wrote my essay about recovering from my eating disorder.

That SAT score might just make the line between you getting in or not.

That’s really my only worry. But I’ve heard of people getting in with lower scores than that, and people being rejected with higher scores than that. It’s in the average acceptance range, so my fingers are crossed.

Yeah good luck. So where are you from?

Hey guys, I am an international student from Brazil. Could anyone please chance me for CAS?

Essays, Rec. Letters: Strong
GPA: School doesn’t provide, but mostly As and A+
SAT Score: 2010 (W 620, M 680, CR 710), but retaking in December
SAT II: German w/ listening 730, Math 1 710
Class rank: 11/138 (about 8%)
I can afford full tuition, if that counts for something…

Here in Brazil the workload and ECs are different, so mainly I have:
Fonder and president of tutoring club (150hrs/yr, all years)
Piano lessons since I was 8
Tennis (90hrs/year, starting in 10th grade)
Media/Journalism Club member (120hrs/yr, 11th)
Foreign Exchange Program at NYU last July
German Study Group (120hrs/yr, 9th and 10th grade)
Spanish Study Group (90 hrs/yr, 9th grade)
English Study Group (90hrs/yr, 11th grade)
Volunteer at my school’s yearly bake sale (9th and 10th grades)

hello guys, I have an important question. it might look like I am really insane but that bothers me so much and maybe you can kind of help me out with this. so, I wanna aply for NYU Stern & CAS for ED2. in high school, I had a certain reason why my grades got so low (it can be even proven by a signed paper) - I have ended up with GPA of 2.9 unweighted. that’s a crap. however, I have SAT score of 2140 (not really awesome), A LOT of internships, awards and stuff connected to business, accounting, economics, organization of economical events, internships in banks, notarial offices etc. could you guys kind of direct me on a right path and give me some advice - does this terrible GPA totally discriminates me from having any chance of getting into these schools? (also, I have applied to NYU last year with a way worse application, so I am the repetitive applicant. I do not know if this matter.)

I am sorry for putting it here, but I would be the happiest if getting any words of advice, thank you.

*also, I’m ranked on top 20-25% in my school anyways

That GPA wont let you get in. Whats the reason?

I was diagnosed with a “temporary” ilness, actually I have been into that for few years but by temporary I mean that now I am almost fully recovered. and that affected my overall being; I was sleeping all the time, I could not focus on anything + I was most passionate about music, so I have devoted too much of my time to get the best in my extracurriculars connected to that and this is how I got my GPA so low. also, I had a complex problem with my family, since they were 7000 miles away from me, but I do not think that is that serious but it also affected it - I had to have internships etc and it decreased my ability to have a good GPA. and for the last, I jumped from the 10th grade to 12th because of my great academic and behavioral, outstanding records and I had a chance to graduate earlier, but I had a lot of work connected with kind of catching up to stay on task in this 12th grade. I know that people may have wag bigger problems that I do, but I was truly hoping that I can do it anyhow. Also, my last transcript is all with A&B grades, and there is just one D, which has pulled my GPA to 2.9. It was an AP class.

Let me add something more. I am working with some agency that helps students get directed on a right path due to their complex applications to colleges in US. (I am an international student). A person from this office has called NYU and NYU said, that "a student like this, with this kind of stats might get in, but a GPA is definitely a ‘red flag’. if the rest of the application will be good, then there is a chance of getting in. "

what does it basically mean? I am stuck and I have no idea whether should I apply to NYU or not.
