NYU ED1 Class of 2017 Discussion Thread

Either Third North or Hayden, definitely.

I know it’s not so popular, but probably Rubin. My brother lived there 2 years ago, when he was a freshman, & he hated it because it was run down and didn’t have air conditioning. They just renovated it, though, and he loved the character and the sense of community that it had. SO that’s probably what I’m gonna go for, but I’m gonna talk to him first.
Location matters a lot to me, then dorm sizes.

University Hall for sure!!!

cant wait for the decision
so stressed out.

As of last night I am so stressed out about getting in. I was so confident, until I saw the stats of the accepted/rejected kids from 2016 ED. I’m applying to Tisch.

GPA UW: 3.81 W: 4.91 (IB Student)

ACT: 29 (E: 35 M: 27 CR: 30 S: 23)

:( ^ those stats are simply not good enough compared to some people.

@ohdogg, where did you see stats?! i’m applying to tisch and im IB as well, with a 29 on my act!

@leggggy Ah, I hope we both get in! It’s incredible to think that we’re so close to finding out. To se stats just google search “NYU Class of 2016 ED” and you should be able to find some stats. One girl had a 3.8 gpa, a 28 act, a great audition + tons of great excs, and got rejected. I mean, maybe her audition was not as good as she thought, I don’t know though.

I think for us, it’ll really come down to how much Tisch likes us, not how much NYU likes us. I say that because I’ve read so many posts from people on CC over the years who had really bad grades/scores (and we don’t!) and till got into Tisch.

Tisch is definitely the deciding factor. I’m praying!

Third north or hayden wooooo

Why do people dislike Rubin? When I went to the open house I toured every dorm, and Rubin was by far the most attractive of all them (or at least that’s what I felt)

What’s typically the most coveted dorm for freshman/why?

What’s typically the least coveted/why?

ah i can’t even begin to think about dorms yet! do you guys think a lot of people will be applying early decision to the Global Liberal Studies Program?

@ohdogg i agree! i stayed after my audition and talked to them so hopefully they got to know me as a person more than they did in the 30 minute artistic review we all had. and when it comes down to it, tisch is about space too. you could have everything they want, but they can’t accept every qualified candidate, which sucks for us.

@ohdogg rubin is fab! I spent like two days there with a friend. It was fun, the people are really nice, and the dining hall is actually good
contrary to the stigma that its the worst dining hall. Also, the location is great
5th ave.

Ohdogg-- Like I said, my brother’s freshman year (before it was renovated), pretty much everyone there hated it because there was no air conditioning, and the rooms were VERY run-down (at one point my brother had their toilet in their shower
) and cramped. Also (and this didn’t change with the renovation) apparently the food isn’t the best, except for steak night on Wednesdays. But like I said, much of that has gotten better since the renovation, & I’m almost certainly going to request it. (:

Oh, apparently there still isn’t air conditioning. But that only matters for a few months.

ive applied to cas
anyone else?
i have really awful sat scores so am horribly nervous, now!
cant wait to find out!

@lovely162 Hi, I’m applying CAS mathematics! I’m also very nervous. Good luck!

Did anyone NOT get the information on the financial aid “to do list” and did apply for financial aid?

@correkid do you mean the “no self service aid for this year” under accept/decline financial aid? or the paragraph under “view my to do list”? i think the to do list paragraph thing has always been there, from what i remember. but the “no self service” thing is fairly recent for some. but i didn’t apply for financial aid so i’m probably no help at all. but if youre worried about the to do list, i’m pretty sure it says that for everyone.

The question is, does anyone know what “no self service aid for this year” means

My financial aid page didn’t change at all. It shows “There is no financial aid information found” since the day I got my albert ID. I didn’t apply for financial aid, but someone who didn’t either said their page changed to “no self service aid for this year” like leggggy’s page. Does this mean anything?
