NYU ED1 Class of 2017 Discussion Thread

@correkid I agree, I emailed my admissions counselor and she said "The admission decisions will wrap up on Wednesday (tommorow) and all notifications will be released on the 18th. So…this is it guys. As of tommorow our fates are sealed. Best of luck.

@tgese11 i wish they could send them tomorrow!!!

do you think there is a possibility that they’ll send them earlier?

@anoeltner doubt it, I honestly think they needed the extra time because of the hurricane. I’m actually surprised the notification date was only extended 3 days considering the application deadline was technically extended for 11. Plus, they sent out that email changing their notification date and I don’t think they’d go back on that.

@leggggy I know right! Freaking dying of anxiety over here.

I can’t even concentrate in school anymore because I’ve been so anxious and stressed about all of this! By the way @halflokum, thank-you so much for your post on the previous page! I read every word! And also thanks to @uskoolfish for that helpful timeline!

Uskoolfish just told all of you exactly how it went down for last year’s ED 1. I feel for each and every one of you (my daughter was in your shoes last year), but hope you won’t read too much into the financial aid stuff. The link to the admissions decision appeared on Albert around 15-20 minutes before my daughter received her official acceptance email. At least that is when she saw it–it might have been there earlier. As Uskoolfish stated, rejection emails were sent first. We are on the West Coast and I think the first notice appeared on CC around 5:30 a.m. in our time zone. It took several hours for the first acceptance to be posted–maybe around 11:30 a.m.–I don’t remember the exact time. The waiting (as Tom Petty noted) is the hardest part. It will be over soon, though, so try not to make yourselves crazy. This time next year, you will barely remember how this feels. Best of luck to all of you. I hope the next week flies.

@ohdogg “Stern famously doesn’t offer a transfer from LSP.”

This indicates that you CAN apply to Stern and LSP. However, LSP is a two year program. This quote explains that after the two years, you are not allowed to transfer into Stern – at least this is my understanding. After the two years in LSP, an LSP student is guaranteed transfer into CAS. Good luck to everyone!

In past years (For ED Applicants) - has the change in the program to Liberal Studies had any sort of indication on the actual acceptance/rejection?

@aa2013 no, there is no evidence to support either an acceptance or rejection. For some reason though I don’t feel good about it though. I feel like I’m going to get rejected.

@Correkid Is that just your nerves speaking for your own decision? I’m getting so many different answers from so many sources - but they’re all dancing right around the answer haha.

I think that Fin Aid has just begun to finalize offers. I don’t think they do more than tabulate EFC/ profile amounts (need) until they know who is accepted. Once they know whether someone is accepted, they will look at your need and then determine how much they want you to come and make you an applicable offer. They get imput from admissions and base your package on that.

So if admissions is wrapping up tomorrow, it means that financial aid packages are being determined next. That will take the next several working days. That’s why I would not place too much on these strange tabs that are appearing. I just don’t think financial aid is near complete yet.

No, there were two users last year that claimed to have this happen- @aou113 and @jdeanmorgan but neither of them posted whether or not they got accepted. Maybe you can message them. From the looks of it @jdeanmorgan did not receive a rejection in the morning so it can be implied that they got in.

So…quick question. Does everyone have the accept/decline tab on the financial aid section in Albert.

@Correkid If neither of those two users posted on whether or not they got accepted, maybe it was because both were rejected from LSP and they didn’t want to post it? Or maybe they did get accepted but didn’t feel like posting it on here. I don’t know, but it’s making me feel even more nervous about our decision. However, I think @AA2013 said in an earlier post that after talking to NYU Admissions, a change to LSP does not necessarily mean we have been rejected by CAS just yet. We’ll just have to see sadly.

@username112 Yes, it’s been there since we got our Albert accounts.

Again best to all of you. Lots of queries running simultaneously here. My 2 cents for what it’s worth (not more than 2 cents believe me…):

Financial aid tabs: again I’d suggest that reading into what you see in Albert Financial Aid means nothing unless as unkoofish indicated you suddenly see an actual award. I suppose it is possible to have that show up before an admission offer but it wouldn’t be what I’d be keeping my eye on. I’d be watching for the admissions decision tab to be activated.

Can you be considered for more than 1 program at NYU? Yes. See section 4B of the NYU application supplement that you all had to fill out. If you checked the box indicating you’d be willing to be considered for an alternate program if they decide you are not a fit for your first choice, they will consider you for the alternate which could include LSP.

Does a change from another school (like CAS or Stern) to LSP indicate admission? There isn’t evidence in CC one way or the other as far as admissions go. My guess is that it more likely indicates that you are now being considered for admission into LSP vs. your original program but that is just a guess.

Is there such thing as moving from LSP to Stern based on the article indicated by ohdogg in post #693? If you look at the LSP information on the NYU website, Stern is not indicated as a next step after the 2 years in LSP. (See “What happens at the end of sophomore year?” on the FAQ page.)

Date that this will all end? There was a ton of info road kill last year where “my school admissions counselor called and was told X”, or “I just spoke to admissions and was told Y”. Though I’m sure those calls were made and the info passed along was what they heard, none of it turned out to be accurate. I watched many a nugget told as gospel be disproved or a date come and go. The decisions will come out when they come out. They could be earlier than the 18th or not. You just need to keep watching and waiting. Hurricane Sandy may have thrown a wrench into things but also, they might be ready and it will come out before then. Doesn’t help the wait anxiety but what I’m trying to say is you can’t believe what you hear. ONLY BELIEVE WHAT YOU SEE.

I’ve been reading this thread for weeks and just decided to make a post. I’m applying to tisch drama. I’m sooooo nervous! NYU means everything to me. Good luck to everyone, I hope we all hear good news on the 18th!

i applied to the LSP programme also and mine hasnt changed to it yet,it still says cas…is that bad?

@lovely162-- Not good or bad. If the conclusion I’ve come to from reading all of these posts is correct, it just means that you’re being considered for CAS, AND LSP still. Either way, you’re still being considered for your first program of choice. I marked the box for LSP too, mine hasn’t changed either. I don’t think it means anything.

It would be awesome if the decisions came out early, if they don’t need the extra time the allotted themselves… but I doubt it.

^there is no “yet” as in hasn’t changed yet. I’d assume it means they are still considering you for CAS. The trick is not to read anything into any of what you see in Albert unless it is an actual decision. It will drive you nuts. You are days away from the real answer. Hang in.

Pretend this is like the old days when people just had to wait for the fat or thin envelope. I’m dating myself but then there was nothing to do except wait for the mail man (and yes… in those days it probably was a man so I’m REALLY dating myself).
