As much as I want to agree with that, I really don’t think its that simple. And I don’t think we should be posting our “definitive opinions” on here because they are opinions and not definitive. Its not fair to those who are very paranoid about their acceptances and we are causing them more stress than they need. I think we should start to use this forum to discuss our chances and our interests in this school. Then, on tuesday, we can just post if we got accepted and help those still waiting in agony. I know this probably wont affect anyone on here, I just thought id say it anyway

What if it says 2013… Why are we now ruling out the possibility of 2013 being an acceptance…

@Idreamofscreen thank you I’m already really paranoid and just reading this make me think that I’m never gonna get in (I know I’m most likely going to be rejected but that doesn’t mean I want to dwell on it for a week)

@ idreamofscreen…as i said in my post, this is just my opinion and i am not presenting it as any “definitive possibilities”. just thought i’d put it out there - take it or leave it. if you are upset by this, then my apologies. in the end, we are all paranoid!

@dwarnock95…i was just throwing out possibilities and am not ruling out any 2013 FA info.

Sorry, but there are some of us that want to read this and speculate. If you don’t want to, you simply don’t have to read it. We’re posting opinions. People are clearly stating they’re not definitive and are merely speculation. Not trying to sound mean, but maybe this thread isn’t for the people who don’t want to read about that

I think you miss understood what I meant to say. When I quoted “definitive opinions” I wasnt quoting you I was quoting it as an oxymoron because we obviously cant be definitive.

@Correkid I am not saying don’t speculate but you have to be considerate of other people when you post your opinion. People take every word on here literally and you have to be careful that you arent crushing someones dreams before they actually find out. Even when you speculate and specify that you dont know anything for sure, they still read the part that says “If you dont have FA then you are not accepted” (or the other versions that everyone has said) and thats the only part that sticks.

@Littlemeow dont be so negative! You never know! What program did you apply to?

are we “crushing someone’s dreams” when we, who are totally unqualified and only again offering a personal opinion, “chance” someone? look this post is a place for us to vent and stress our fears, our hopes and our dreams. in the end, we all know that until dec 18, nothing is for sure!!!

@nyu2017 couldn’t agree more

The thing is chances are different. With chances there are people who have been through it before, stats that the colleges release for comparison and experience with applying to college in general. This is about something that may or may not mean a thing and as the people who have called even NYU says it doesnt mean anything. You are not the only one to do this so dont take it like I’m targeting you because I am not. Even though you (general) say you are not qualified, nervous applicants will read what you have to say as law and that is not fair to put people through stress that they dont need to go through. I only say this to stand those people who think this FA thing means something because so many people are saying it does.

I am totally fine with people posting their opinions, I am not trying to control what people post because I clearly dont have any authority whatsoever to do that. Just consider other people first and when you post your opinion dont say that no FA means rejection. Instead say theres a chance that this might be a sign or something a little less harsh for those reading who fall under that category. Even in chances people dont say you will be rejected they say its a reach. Just keep a little hope alive in this forum. I am sorry if I offended anyone I wasn’t trying to.

Thanks to the few of you who read this.

@Idreamofscreen I applied to stern. and I agree with you. of course, post your opinion because that’s what this is for. but sometimes things written here hit really close to home and upset people when it’s not necessary.

Thanks littlemeow. Good luck to you I hope you get in! And good luck to everyone else if I havent already said it. Even you @nyu2017 and @correkid. I seriously do hope all of you guys get in. Who knows, this time next year we could all be studying in bobst for our finals and these little problems literally wont mean anything to us. Heres hoping!

@idreamofscreen you make completely valid points, I honestly think its my anxiety and paranoia getting the best of me. Best of luck to you!

The Tisch website still says that ED1 decisions will come out beginning today, 12-15. I’ve seen earlier comments in this thread say 12-18 is ED 1 decision day for Stern applicants. Do Tisch and Stern have different notification dates or is everyone’s ED1 decision date delayed a few days due to later submissions from Hurricane Sandy? Any Tisch folks hear anything yet?

@caltexas OMG! where does it say that? did they update this after the normal nyu website said it would be the 18th? i haven’t heard anything yet from tisch! now i’m freaking out!

I’m pretty sure every school is the 18th, but I guess we’ll find out at 5

tisch probably just didn’t update their website, they don’t seem to keep up with it very well usually.

I wish! But I really dont think thats accurate. Its not really done by school but who knows. I think we would have heard before 5 anyway.

Im pretty sure all schools will get their decisions at the same time. I think everything is at the financial aid office at this point, and those accepted are getting their packages finalized there.

If NYU2017’s theory is correct at all, I’d imagine that the financial aid screen might show “2013” to show that financial need info was processed, and “2014” would indicate that their package is now complete for those who are accepted.

However, I think it is way too early to determine anything. For those who show no changes with their financial aid status, it may mean that their file has not been worked on yet, even if they are accepted ultimately.

Good luck!

Here is the information still on the NYU website under Freshman Applicants - Key Dates & Deadlines:

App Type App Deadline Financial Aid Deadline Notification Date Response Deadline
Early Decision I November 1 November 15 December 15 January 15
Early Decision II January 1 January 15 February 15 March 15
Regular Decision January 1 February 15 April 1 May 1

and also I just checked the Tisch admissions notification info page again, and it is down. I’m thinking that only the home page is relevant at this point, for all NYU schools. The data I quoted above is from the admissions link, not the home page… so I agree that Dec 18 is probably the right notification date for all schools due to hurricane delay. ugh… 3 more days!
