NYU ED2 2019 Discussion/Decision Thread

@thepatzae, I have been asking the same question. I submitted my application well before the deadline, and it was processed on December 25th. That’s good right? But I haven’t seen a financial aid change so I’m convinced I was rejected. I just don’t know how NYU looks at the applications. Is it by last name? Application date? I would really appreciate it if someone could answer our questions.

Does anyone know the timeline of the changes? I know someone posted it in some thread earlier but it was like a FA changes are usually posted 2 weeks before, 1 week before, something like that. Basically if I haven’t gotten the change yet, am I rejected or is there still time?

@vballgurl i think the latest was either 5/7 days before (from ED1)

@stressedstudent1 you made me feel even better, since you did not get your fa change as well. i have submitted my application on 1st of January, around 3-4 hours before the deadline. my assumption is, that maybe they look on the application from those sent most early, thus changing fa also in this “queue”. also, above someone said that latest come 5-7 days before the nonification days. i swear, my application was the last submitted to nyu probably so I gave myself a chance and I will wait for that change few days more. you should too. but also, my stats were that bad, so I am 99.9% sure that i will be rejected. so also the theory of “fa change” can be right, because probably I will be rejected and no change in fa can be the first sign of that. whatever. i will wait until wednesday and surely, i will let u know if something will change. please let me know as well if you will get any change. still i have no idea why it is important - the day when application was submitted. i was thinking about it today and my guess is, that probably they look on them in a sequence from the one submitted most early and to those submitted as last ones. so for example, people who submit these earlier have a bigger chance to be accepted. if my gess is accurate, then I am right also in this case before - how they look on those applications according to change in FA. please don’t be stressed out, wait few more days. honestly, i cry every day since yesterday because before i did not even know about this theory with FA. if they did not look at my application yet, i might be happy because with my last breath i want to send them my sat scores which will be available on wednesday. they can significantly change my situation. but now, im so worried that actually they do look on those apps’ in order. then, my chance is so ffffff low.

@vballgurl i did not get mine too. can you tell me which day have you submitted your application? it will help me to find out the reason why we still did not get that. don’t worry, we’re not the only ones…

@thepatzae‌ I probably submitted around December 30th/31st so towards the end of the applicant pool but I also applied regular and then switched to ED around January 17th, so I might be the absolute last person they look at, idk

@vballgurl okay! but did you get your FA change already?

@thepatzae‌ Nope, but I’m not sure, my gpa isn’t too great so I might’ve been rejected

@vballgurl okay, look at my looong response few posts above. other people and I are wondering why we did not get our FA change. @stressedstudent1 look guys, you submitted your applications so late, at the end of december and I have submitted mine on January 1st, few hours before the deadline. now my assumption makes sense - nyu is probably looking at those in sequence from those submitted first to last ones. and also, we will get (hopefully) our FA change as the last ones too.

Mmm. I got the FA change three days ago and I submitted my application on January 1st…

@ehnwhyyou okay, im done

I think they look at the applications in both sequence of time and where you are from. IDK… I am an international student studying at Kansas, and I didnt get my FA change. Is anyone here from KS got the change?

@szszsz hmm, im international but i study in minnesota and also i didnt get my fa change…

@vballgurl i went on a NYU tour. They really stressed the fact that if you want to go to stern you should apply directly since transferring in is nearly impossible.

I know the acceptance letters come out area by area, but idk about how they actually look at the applications…maybe it’s just fate (jk)
But in all seriousness, maybe they review the applications in the order that they are completed (like all materials: test scores, transcripts etc. are received), and it also depends on how fast your admissions officer is at going through his/her pile

i wish we could all take a really long nap till the 15th

Its only 7 more days. TBH those will fa changes have nothing to worry about

@thepatzae Well it would be rare if you got accepted into LSP instead of Stern, but since you asked to be considered for CAS (and with more reason if you also asked to be considered for LSP) it could happen.
Yes, you are guaranteed that you will be able to transfer to one of NYUs main schools after LSP is over if you have a GPA of 2.0 or above, except for Stern and Tisch and some programs at Steinhardt. Most LSPers continue to CAS. And yes, the 2 years you would do LSP count toward your bachelor’s degree. You would be a junior by the time you transfer to a main school.

@thepatzae‌ I’m not really counting on my fa change, which happened 3-4 days ago, since i’m an international student. But i submitted my application some 20 minutes before the deadline, so i think your guess might be kinda wrong

@kyokokun what up, i’m a fellow tisch applicant. i also got the FA change last week.
