NYU Fall 2016 Transfers Official Thread

@katew05, Hi, I also apply for Journalism program in CAS, but haven’t heard back yet. Your apps seem impressive. Hope we could all get in!

@CooperJuniorI Thanks!! I have not heard back yet either, obviously lol, but the wait is literally making me so anxious. I was going through the transfer thread from last year and it seems like most people heard back around the last week of April, first week of May

I just get worried that it would hurt my application when admission committee requested my midterm grade report last week, I said it was not available. I replied that my current school UCSD was in quarter system, and we were still in Week Three. Hope they would not think my apps are not complete and leave it aside. :frowning:

Accepted to NYU CAS!!! I submitted on March 31st

Congatulations !!!

@CooperJuniorI
Thank you : ) I submitted my midterm report a couple of days before I submitted my app, but I don’t think the time you submit your midterm report is an issue!

should I call and ask the status of my admissions decision? i submitted the end of November and they’ve had all my documentation since January… getting super anxious. Applied to CAS

@katew05 Just wanted to share some college gpa frustrations. My first semester I got a 3.8 and every semester since I had a 4.0, but your gpa raises soooooo slowly it is not fun. I am still a 3.94 :confused: I just wanted to share that with you so you can realistic expectations when you see your gpa for the end of the year. It isn’t bad, just a frustrating thing to deal with.

Congratulations for three of you. Do U guys mind to share your stats and what time did u guys Receive the email? Appreciate …

@muffinpoptarte Omg no I completely understand!! That sounds super frustrating. I mean as of right now I have a 4.0 but my freshman year final GPA will be a 3.9 if I can hold the 4.0 for three more weeks (crossing my fingers lol)

Accepted to Gallatin today!

@gallatin2019 congratulations!

@gallatin2019 AWESOME! congratulations!

@katew05 I have very similar stats and was just accepted today. I’d say you have a very good chance at acceptance. Really the only negative I can see is the SAT scores which are a tad lower than mine (SAT scores were my weakest part of my application) but I think your high GPA/ECs/Essays will make up for that.

@CooperJuniorI I submitted my Mid-Term Report about two weeks ago.

Do you think decisions are coming out tomorrow?

tisch here film/tv. stats: gpa somewhere b/w 3.2-3.5 I think my portfolio will help a lot though. Focus on comedy/satire writing. Started up a satirical newspaper at college. Fit: said needed bigger community. SAT: didn’t submit (but in 2000s). IB diploma. hs gpa junior/senior year: weighted 5.0. hs track/xc captain. Recommendations: (none from my current school. Is that a problem? Though, one from guy who actually teaches at Tisch (but in creative writing program.) Thoughts? Thanks

Accepted: CAS, rising sophomore
Accepted as econ and math major
Current college major: business economics

Applied from a top 30 university because it’s in a really small town and I like big cities
HS GPA: 3.9+
College GPA: 1st semester 3.6, 2nd ~3.8 (predicted), 36 credits by far
SAT: 2300+

ECs:
-Internships at asset management firms
-VP finance of a couple of college clubs
-Started small businesses in HS

Essays:
I would give it a 9/10. I really talked about how going to a college in a huge city is going to connect me with all the resources I need. Also the PS is really tailored towards NYU - both my PS and why essay address “why NYU” - so I believe the AO sees how committed I am.

Recs:
I made my decisions to transfer over the winter break and a lot of the classes I took in my first semester were really big classes - which means most of the professors don’t know me. Fortunately there is one professor who would like to help me out (because nobody else would and I guess going to his OH a couple of times helps too), and I got an A in his class. But honestly I have no idea about the quality of my rec letter

Hope this helps. Good luck to everyone still waiting!

has anyone been accepted for junior standing?

i am so happy for all of the accepted students today! I am also a bit envious, I submitted my application to CAS in early-mid february. Either way I hope I find out soon, the waiting is terrible.

my tisch app was just checked on the admissions status. eekkkaugh,

Under the ‘Undergraduate Applicants’ section does anyone else see the part ‘Mid-Year and Final Reports for Freshmen Applicants’ ? Thanks…
