I’m thinking of adding that I’m a long distance commuter in the additional info section of the Common App…having a 1.5-2hr commute (one way) for 4 days a week has been tiring and at times has contributed to my transcript having less A’s than I might like/less EC’s than I might like bc of time constraints. Will that be viewed as an excuse, or is it imp. info for them to know considering I would probably perform better if I wasn’t traveling back and forth between NJ and NY everyday? I will be commuting to NYU as well so that’s another thing.
@dreamingofnyu19 I used to commute from central NJ to NYU during the summer, it was pain in the neck.
Does anyone know the what month NYU generally releases transfer decisions?
Their website says early April to May but looking at old transfer threads it seems like it could even be a little longer depending on the year
Did anyone submit the application yet?
@dreamingofnyu19 I’m so glad there is someone else applying this same! I heard that it’s pretty hard to get into the program as external transfer. Hopefully we could all get in

@paradiseeee Where did you hear that?!! :0 I thought for sure it would be less competitive than something like CAS?
@kfellysnena my friend at nyu told me that MCC is one of the most popular programs. I personally got rejected last year I applied so… but I think Steinhardt in general is easier to get in than CAS.
@paradiseeee Ooh I hope that’s not the case, I was thinking along the lines of @kfellysnena that Steinhardt would be less of a challenge than CAS or Stern to get into. Nevertheless, I’m glad we’re in the same boat!
I’m almost done sending in my app, I’ve written the essays, I’m just waiting on one prof to upload her rec!
Are you guys sending in the midterm report? I’ve really improved from last semester grade-wise and I want to show that even though NYU doesn’t require the mid semester report…
@dreamingofnyu19 I submitted my apps, along with all the required documentation in November. I just submitted mailed out my midterm grades the other day, although its not required its great to show admissions that you’re grades are either improving or staying consistent. Obviously wouldn’t hurt to send them in even though they’re not a requirement (:
@dreamingfornyu19 So I called the office just now. They said it is REQUIRED to send the mid year report. I messed up the midterm for two of my current courses
@paradiseeee Oh wow, thanks for letting me know! I’ll have to get on that when grades are in for certain next week. Sorry to hear that about your current courses…I’m sure your stellar GPA will make up for it though!
@dreamingofnyu19 @paradiseeee what is the difference between Midyear report and midterm report? Are both required?
@nyrider because not all professors give out mid term grade, the school requires the pertained or predicted scores given by the professors in the second semester. So mid term grades could somehow influence the scores on the mid-year report. Also mid year report is filled out by each professor you have for the second semester and sent by a school official. No, you don’t need to submit both. Just go to the Recommender section, scroll down and youll see a pdf document named Mid-year report. Find your professors and have it filled it out.
@paradiseeee when I go to recommender section, I only see the pdf for midterm report but not Midyear report. So the mid term report is only filled out if there is a midterm (test) for that class?
Im kinda confused, I am in the NYU CCTOP program. I talked to the director of the program, she mentioned that mid-year report or college report are not required unless the admission office asked for. I didn’t submit it. If there is anything missing, I think NYU will inform you.
@dreamingofnyu19 i called them, they said that you should not send it. they will contact you if they are on the edge for admissions
@waffle111 @hershey789 really??? That’s a relief. But I wonder why the one I called said it’s mandatory…
