@jasonyty12 Didn’t check orgsync, no housing change, got the student tab the day after I got the fa change
Hey, Guys! I have one question: does fa change apply for international applicant? I can log onto Orgsync and have the student tab on my Albert, but I don’t have the fa change…anyway I think the fa change is the most reliable one.
@myfrienddune CAS usually isn’t too bad about classes, especially if you’re in other majors. There are always classes and departments that will be for majors only, but there are a TON of options for people just looking to take classes that interest them even if it’s not under their major. I’d suggest looking at the CAMS classes in CAS once you get it–they’re the Child and Adolescent Psych classes, but they’re honestly SO interesting. I took one last semester called The Nature of Success and it was really interesting and one of my favorite classes here. Plus it has stuff like The Science of Happiness and a dreams class that I know everyone clamors to get into. The only time registration is rough is during everyone’s initial registration when you have your ideal schedule laid out but classes start disappearing so you have to act kinda fast and have a few schedule variations so you can get things you like that work!
I just got the fa change on Albert but no housing change/student tab? Is it a good sign?
@thedescutnerd that’s so funny i just transferred from pitt to NYU so we’re in opposite situations (: i got into tisch for film but i’m hoping to double majoring in environmental studies as well. i hope you like pitt!!
anyone still waiting for tisch
ok im an idiot i meant to say “i’m hoping to double major” but you get my point lol
Do they only release one admissions wave a week??!?
@Jmercy199 I think it has been usually Mondays and Fridays, but the last two weeks tuesdays have been a popular day for decisions ! So no idea hahahahaa
@thedescutnerd Oh good! I hope I get into NYU then (hopefully with some decent aid…)! I got into UCLA basically for free, but I’ve lived in CA all my life and have been wanting to explore the east coast. Plus overcrowding and budget cuts at UCLA and UCB have been making me second guess my decision to SIR. Several years ago, I took a course in at a CSU, and the course was so full that students were standing in the hallway for an astronomy course (this was an auditorium too). I don’t want a repeat of that experience, so I’ve been applying to private institutions like NYU for, hopefully, a great alternative. I’m willing to spend a bit more for resources like these!
Hey may I ask which major you’re applying to?
Woah sum crazy sentences in there, my b. Super early over heah
ya I’m actually transferring from UCLA. It is impossible to get both classes and individualized counseling. I know lots of upperclassmen and it doesn’t even get better by then. It’s pretty much expected to take summer classes if you want to graduate on time. just way too much overcrowding.
Anyone see any changes for Stern?
I’m going to be so angry if I miss summer registration at my current school only to wait forever to find out that I got rejected from NYU.
@crc213 same I’m studying abroad but I need the university I’m transferring to approval for credit transfers.
@annadragon that’s awesome! I’m glad you got in! And I’m super excited to go back home. I live right outside of Pittsburgh so being closer to home is gonna be great.
and @myfrienddune, yeah you shouldn’t have to worry about any overcrowding like that, that’s crazy! I’ve actually only had one lecture class in an auditorium, the rest have been much smaller. The biggest ‘normal’ class I’ve had was about 40 people, but most of my classes have probably been around 20-25. They’re pretty good about keeping classes small in such a large university
@thedescutnerd pitt was a really great school academically! i felt like i learned a lot there. the main reason i’m moving away is because it was 6 hours away from home ): manhattan is only a 1-2 hour train ride to philly which is where i’m from so i’m happy about that lol
@annadragon haha I guess we both wanna be closer to home. I definitely feel like I thrive when I’m closer to my family and my boyfriend
@myfrienddune hey i know somebody already responded kind of about UCLA but i also currently go to UCLA and i thought i might contribute a little if it helps. it honestly really depends on your major for your experience here. idk what your major is, but its true that people who are in STEM majors have trouble getting classes and might have to take a summer class or two to graduate. but thats really only for STEM majors. alot of humanities majors double major without too much issue and graduate in four years. so it depends on what your majoring and what you want. as for overcrowding in classes, most introductory classes are going to be packed no matter what college you go to, but again it depends on whether the classes are impacted or not. ive taken an intro class here with 350 people but ive also taken one with 18. counseling is pretty much nonexistent here, you’re kind of on your own to plan your classes and degree and all that. the upsides of course are you have so many options for your majors, tons of minors, good reputation, cheap tuition (relative to NYU lol), variety in classes, etc. anyways i just thought i would pitch in with my experience. i like UCLA for the most part and the only reason i applied to transfer was because i wanted to study drama - if you want to talk about it or anything feel free to PM me!
