@slbeverly of course!
I’m a first year at ucsb so the emphasis is on highschool stats for me.
4.3 weighted gpa
32 on ACT
ECs:
Habitat for Humanity, National Honor Society, and Impact mentor for incoming freshman, volunteered at my aunt’s school for homeless children, captain of the girl’s varsity lacrosse team for 3 years, student at vocal point studios, and on cross country for all 4 years.
College wise, my first quarter I think my GPA was 3.8 (2 A’s and 2 A-'s), I’m in the honors program of letters and science (communication major), I am a member of the community affair’s board (volunteer organization) and am a part of the running club.
I think my essays were very compelling, and I got recommendations from my high school counselor and my favorite high school teacher whom I had for 2 years (I think he wrote me a very solid letter tbh)
Oh also, idk if this is really worth mentioning but I am hispanic (i heard that can some times affect the application…?)
good luck I hope we make it in!
did anyone else get an email saying their decision was available but nothing came up on the portal? i was thinking about emailing someone but don’t know who
@hi23449 What time did you get your decision? I only thought they came out at one part of the day. Do they send them out on weekends as well? I still didn’t get mine and I applied on 3/19. Still very nervous and wanna get this over with lol.
We’ve all got to take into account all of the transfers that have applied that aren’t on College Confidential. There could have been plenty of decisions sent out already and not just what we see here.
@cbabbinoNYU yeah, i have a feeling they already sent the first wave out, either that or it really is rolling and I think the colleges are doing it one app at a time
@shrukin1 I just hope they review ours next before they reach their max on acceptances and than we get rejected by our grades, but because they have no more room. That would be shameful.
@shrukin1 *Not by our grades lol
i got the email saying i got a decision yesterday (but none actually posted on albert lol) @cbabbinoNYU
@cbabbinoNYU omg yeah, im actually super worried about that. Especially since they reduced their normal acceptance rate by like 10% this year, im worried they’ll accept less transfer students.
@shrukin1 That’s why I am super stressed out and nervous, their acceptance rate when down to 19% which almost Ivy League status. They probably already sent the first wave out too, which is why I’m praying we get looked at next. I have a feeling within the next twenty years NYU might merge into Ivy League with how competitive they are running. We could totally have awesome grades and stats but if they max out what good are they. NYU has been my biggest aspiration since high school and it would be ashamed of that dream got crushed. I could always apply again for my doctorates degree. But still in that scenario it would be ashamed, which is why I think they should have one real decision date so everyone gets looked at in the same day to make it a fair competition. And @hi23449 that must be horrible I would be freaking out right now, I would calll up. There’s a lot of things going wrong coming from a lot of posts in this thread. NYU needs to step their game up lol.
haha i think i will send an email tomorrow. best of luck to you, i really do hope you get in! @cbabbinoNYU
@hi23449 You too best of luck to you as well and hope to see you there! Remember the worst they can do is tell us no, at that point they’d be missing out on future prospective students and money. But always take the risk of applying instead of living in regret for not applying. We could always try again! Good luck you’ll be in my thoughts and let me know the outcome!
hope you all have a nice weekend
Because Monday is game day once again lol
has anyone gotten their aid package the financial aid office is giving me the worst time of my life
Do they take into consideration if you’re applying for aid or not?
@mishk90 as far as advantage?
@angeleno13 yeah i haven’t gotten my aid package either. i was accepted on thursday morning, and when i checked my financial aid summary for 2019 it said “you have no financial aid awards for viewing in this aid year” which really freaked me tf out because i would love to transfer to nyu, but i don’t think i can justify it if i have to pay full price with legit $0 in aid of any kind. however, now when i check my financial aid summary, it says “inquiry access denied” so i feel like they just haven’t finished with my financial aid yet.
i’m planning on calling the financial aid office on monday to ask when approximately they think i might receive my financial aid summary, especially since we only have 2 weeks from our acceptance date to accept or decline our spot
also, there is one other school i am waiting to hear back from and if i got in there, it would make me consider not going to NYU (again depending on financial aid), but i won’t hear back from them until May 15, which is almost a month after i have to respond to NYU’s offer. does anybody know what to do in this situation?? i’m planning on calling the admissions office, but i also feel like they would maybe not be so nice if i’m like telling them i maybe really want to come but i want to hear from someone else first, you know? thanks for any advice u guys have!!! best of luck to you all, it must be so hard waiting, and u guys all definitely deserve it. stay positive, keep your faith!!! you got this
