*NYU Fall 2018 Transfer Thread*

@sl2018,thank you ,hope you will get your good news soon,

just got rejected from Tisch film… I’m super disappointed because I really thought I had the EC’s and experience in my major. I have a 3.75 gpa. Now I don’t know what to do haha

I just found out I got into NYU CAS for Economics this morning. Last year I applied but was flat-out rejected I think it had to do with the fact that we didn’t have GPA because my high school was really “progressive”. So I attended UW-madison for a year and have 4.0 GPA. I applied to the same department and same major. I honestly feel kind of annoyed about how much they valued the GPA because I think I was just as good a student senior year as freshmen year only I worked way harder senior year and committed way more time applying to schools. smh

currently waiting for tufts to come out and deciding between here and Wesleyan.
honestly not sure if I want to transfer anymore because of higher tuition and fitting in at the new School.plus I already have a solid friend group at UW. any advise???

@sl2018 @tangerine12 @pop2627 I submitted my app on March 20 and all materials were checked off April 20th!

@Weili616 I think UW’s environment is a lot different from NYU. It has a campus, great Greek life, big parties, etc. It is also a college town rather than a big city. My friend was choosing between NYU and UW as an incoming freshman last year and she ultimately chose UW for those reasons and the kind of college experience it offers so I would say it really depends on what you want in terms of that! Also if you are currently happy at UW, I would say why leave?

If we haven’t heard back yet, does nyu appreciate it if we send in our final grades for spring semester? (if they come out before our decisions)

heard back this afternoon that I got accepted to stern!

are you a legacy?

@jwe04077 Congrats, what are your stats ??

Does everyone get their decision for Stern?

@sl2018 thanks for the advise. first, I want to study Econ and math related major I intend work in the east coast or apply for business program after graduation. i went to a really small liberal high school in upstate New York and I was really overwhelmed the first semester at UW because of the size and different culture which is why I applied transfer during winter break. all the schools I applied to are on the east coast and smaller than UW. I wasn’t happy at UW first semester but the second semester I joined greek life and I would say I wouldn’t have made it without it.
so far I heard back from Wesleyan and NYU
Wesleyan is way smaller a lot like my high school and still have many opportunities for internships in NYC I know I would be really happy there.
NYU is a big school but a lot of opportunities in NYC after graduation (NYU also has a chapter of my greek organization there)
I know campus wise UW is probably better than NYU so I am really having a hard time deciding if I should transfer

nothing special - I had a 1260 SAT from high school, 3.8 at a pretty competitive hs in los angeles area, and 3.8 at the naval academy, which I am attending now. I think I wrote a pretty decent essay about adjusting into the military life from the civilian world, and balancing competing in a varsity sport while attending a pretty rigorous school.

and i didnt have any connections in NYU or anything

I received an email suggesting that there is an update in my portal but didn’t see anything when I clicked in. Anyone in a similar situation?

@shirlsffffffff All my materials were finished being submitted the second week of April. & It’s no big deal. It hurts having invested so much time into NYU, but I’ve committed to The New School, so I’ll still be in NYC.

my albert was checked off of hs & college transcript on April 15 :open_mouth: so it’s been exactly a month today. do you guys think i’ll hear back this week? maybe? lol :frowning:

@kxera Thanks for telling me that. I understand how disappointing it is :frowning:
But it is exciting that you are moving to NYC. Wish you all the best

Does anyone know anything about financial aid/scholarships for transfers? For some reason it’s not letting me access it. It says “inquiry access denied.”

@ucts987 I was accepted to Tandon about a week ago and just received access to my financial aid stuff last night. Might have to wait a bit…

Rejected today from CAS :frowning: will be attending Arcadia in the fall but reapplying to NYU for grad school once I pull my grades higher than a 3.7 gpa.
