NYU Fall 2020 Transfer

@Sampats I don’t think so. Cause I submitted my application last week and they haven’t even sent me the portal information email. Seems like they are having a busy time dealing with the pile of last-minute applications

That’s true! Also, do you guys think this pandemic resulted in less people applying for transfer?

I definitely think it will. I think all schools are going to have higher acceptance rates. Also, am I the only person here who still hasn’t submitted their application?

hey is there anyone who can add me to the group chat?

Hi! Could you add me please!
My number is +5491149468794 (argentinean)
My name is Nina!

I just submitted mine hahaha

Does anyone know if I have to submit my act scores? NYU’s website says you don’t have to if you’ve completed a full year of study or 32 credits. I’m currently in my first year so does this count as a full year?

@haydeng19 The rule with test scores is that you don’t have to submit them ONLY if you have 32 credits already completed, meaning they are not in progress.

@jazziscool ugh do they take a lot of consideration in test scores because mine are not so great

@haydeng19 since you’re in your first year and you only have one semester of college grades to report, they will rely more heavily on your highschool grades and standardized testing because that’s mostly all they have to go off of

@haydeng19 So because it is a transfer application, they do not focus on them as much as they would have from if you were applying as freshmen, but at the same time they do place more focus on them compared to if you were applying with 32 credits or more. Either way, do not worry about it. I had really bad high school grades and had an SAT of 1260, so I am in the same boat as you. They love seeing improvement, so if your grades last semester were better than high school, then they will take that into consideration. Good luck!

@jazziscool thanks for the the reply! Luckily my high school gpa and college gpa are pretty good but my act is super low, hopefully the essay and letter of rec will help. Best of luck to you as well!

@haydeng19 yea no problem! You are in good shape then, so i would not worry if I were you!

I’ll post my stats, seeing a lot of other people doing it.
Looking to transfer to Kanbar Institute of Film & TV.

High school:
-3.7 (literally a 90) High School GPA.
-Went to an art high school half of the day
-Key Club President for Sophomore year
-29 ACT
-Bit of an underachiever during high school, as you can see. Regretting that nowadays…

Syracuse University:
-3.9 college GPA, first semester.
-Member of 4 clubs, very active in them and I hold a position in one (Syracuse Film Society).
-On campus Risograph technician
-Member of entrepreneurship learning community
-Dean’s List, also awarded two prestigious academic scholarships

Elsewhere
-Eagle Scout, numerous awards, 45 merit badges
-300+ hours of community service, through both scouts and my own personal fulfillment
-Social media intern for Young Entertainment Magazine; ran their Instagram page
-Production intern for an independent feminist film (did a LOT, and for no pay -_-)
-Salesman at Vector Marketing during Summer '19, sold $9000 of products in under two months.
-Also been an extra on numerous film and TV sets

As for my essays, I’ve been perfecting them and asking for advice from professors since around November. They’re great, and NYU is my dream school so hopefully there is a tangible sense of passion from the essays.

I also spent a long time on my short story submission and my film; both of which I could proudly proclaim are very unique, original, and well made [made with love ;)].

Even though I see everyone else posting this sort of information, I feel like I’m completely spewing and boasting…

Good luck to you all! You all deserve it!

Does anyone have an idea if transfer applicants will receive a discussion today or would have to wait for Thursday?

@Nursing7 I honestly have no idea. Typically NYU releases decisions on Thursdays. However, for freshman applicants they released it Monday. So honestly it could be any day lol

Also, on what day did you submit your application? @Nursing7

@Sampats I submitted it since January on common app and I know transfer applications are due today April 1st but weren’t too sure when I would get a decision. Thanks!

Does anyone know how competitive transfer admission for Gallatin is? Is there a gpa range that transfers should be in?

I’m applying to Gallatin from UC Davis this year

the waiting begins today guys!! good luck :))))
