Hi, I'm an international student hoping to get into NYU - the only thing holding me back would be the cost to go there as it's on average $50000. I was wondering if anyone could give me websites/organizations or advice on how to get financial aid to go there. I'm from South Africa, and the government doesn't really fund tertiary education. Any advice or suggestions would be much appreciated - Thank You

You need to look for colleges that provide financial aid/scholarships to international students.

NYU doesn’t have much financial aid for international students. You could apply to NYU Abu Dhabi (excellent financial aid) then spend a year on the New York campus…?

NYU actually costs $63K/year, not $50K.

If your test scores and educational background put you at the top of the top at NYU, or any school, for that matter, there is a larger possibility that you get financial/merit aid. Just make sure that those schools on your list do not exclude international student from such awards, and that there actually are awards given of the size you need to go to the school. Yes, some international students do get money, even full rides to go to colleges here, but it all depends on how much the school wants them, and they have to be the cream of the crop. You can take a chance at some schools, like NYU, and also add some schools where you would be in a higher echelon with your stats. It has to be worth it for the college to pay you to come there.
