NYU has a drug problem?

Does NYU have a drug problem

I have read news reports of NYU "drug kingpins" and random busts and etc.

how prevelent is drug use on campus and in these 3 dorms
a. rubbin
b. britney
c. hayden

is marijuana generally accepted
do they they really have delievery service(read this on nyu news)

do you think this a problem
i know all schools have people who use drugs but nyu seems to have a big reputation when it comes to drug use

it's got a huge drug problem.... everyone's a stoner (including all the chinese asians).

what is to prevent them from being caught
what is the punishment for smoking weed in dorms
are there really narcs in Washington square

When it comes down to it, everyone has their own morals. I'm not sure about NYU's reputation, but seriously, its not like drug users will sneak into your dorm one day and inject you with something.

Everyone has their own life, so I'd recommend just accepting them. It's not like drug users are bad people, but I wouldn't recommend dating them if that's all they do.

(BTW: I used to be very closed minded on drug users. You just have to learn to be tolerant of them, they really are people too)
(I'm also 100% clean =D )

Well I hope you realize that NYU is in the Village. So drugs like marijuana are nothing out of the ordinary.

my current high schools is already filled with them but nyu seems notorious
i read that out of a sample of 200, like 117 smokes weed

back to my questions

what is to prevent them from being caught
what is the punishment for smoking weed in dorms
are there really narcs in Washington square
do they really have delivery service?

There are many reasons students go to school in the city. Freedom, individuality & a judgment free environment are often just as important as quality of education & job opportunities. You can choose whether or not to partake, you just can't judge others=a healthy attitude. zoolander: I am a parent, so I don't know.

alright let me rephrase my question

do RAs care if people smoke in dorms

Haha do you intend to blaze up at NYU?

just for future reference

Perhaps you are asking this for a friend? :D

Depends on the RA, but generally, no. I've actually heard stories about them smoking too in the dorms.

As for NYU having a drug problem... it's not really restricted to NYU, you know. Although not many people get more hardcore than marijuana at any school, including NYU, or so it seems.

i know the drug is easily accissible. I have a friend who goes there and knows at least like 7 dealers around the block, and has access to marijuana in a matter of minutes

Aren't they REALLY strict (and enforce) the No Cigarette smoking in Dorms Ban? I would think weed smokingis perhaps a bit more prevelent due to the proximity to Washington Square Park (named after famous Patriot drug runner Maurice Washington....a little known fact). I'd be paranoid to light up ANYTHING inside the dorms, but walking to a club at night...I bet there's a waft in the air Fo sho. Compared to my second choice school (Wisconsin) I think NYU is like Bringham Young.

I don't know if it's a drug problem necessarily, but it's definitely prevalent. Like even on a Wednesday afternoon prevalent.

Meh, walking down the street you see people smoking amputees (cigarette bodies filled with weed) or doing one hitters.

Yes there are delivery services and their rates are very competitive.

Umm, if you're smart, you don't smoke in a dorm, cuz you can get busted and kicked out for first offense, so normally you find a friend with off-campus housing or just do it on rooftops of some buildings.

More hardcore drugs though, aren't really prevalent, as in you won't see any junkies going to NYU. Stoners? sure. If lectures are boring enough, you might find a good chunk of your class arrive with glazed-over eyes and that distant look. Whatever, makes the class more enjoyable.

But yea, drugs aren't really a "problem" here, schools in the middle of nowhere or party schools (Boulder comes to mind) have much more serious drugs circulating the campus.

Oooh pot sooo scary. AHHH the marajuana is coming to eat me!

Seriously, it's New York City. SoHo. The Village.

Reefer madness!

All right, I've known people who used pot, but 117/120? ***? (this was originally w t f, but apparently abbreviations are curse words too - I guess that's a double w t f?) That is way, way off.

It's not a problem at NYU any more than it is at every other college...

I think schools in the middle o' nowhere have more problems with drugs.
like any other college, you will find drugs at nyu, with most of the drug users being potheads. But the majority aren't on drugs (117/120 = yeah right, that is over 90%, who was surveyed, the dealers lurking around washington square park?
if I were you, I wouldn't smoke in dorms.

Of the 200 university housing residents informally polled, 116 said they have used marijuana this semester.

NYU is ranked eighth out of 344 universities in marijuana prevalence by the Princeton Review.
