NYU Music Business at Steinhardt

I am currently a high school junior. I currently have an overall gpa of 3.467 (I just found out that my school messed up my gpa which I had thought was a 3.538 but this whole time they had the wrong gpa on my transcript). I rank 25 out of 61 and I am in the 59.02 percentile. First semester of Junior year is about to end and in this semester I have a 3.94 gpa and I predict in these next weeks before winter break it’ll go up to a 3.98 gpa. I’ve kept an average grade of A throughout highschool. I plan on keeping my grades up for the rest of highschool, possibly maintaining a 4.0 after this semester which would raise my overall gpa after Junior year to around a 3.65 and if that continues into senior year I’ll graduate with around a 3.75. I have been in choir for over 10 years, I was in orchestra, I was in guitar club, I am a 2013 All State Choir member, I have been a member of multiple honor choirs throughout my life, I play the piano, ukulele, viola, guitar, and I dj, I also like to produce my own tracks on Ableton live. I have taken business classes throughout highschool and have been a member of Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) throughout high school. I am currently vice president of FBLA. I was also elected vice president of technology for my schools Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). I have gone to state for both FBLA and FCCLA. I have been a member of my schools speech team, softball team, and basketball team. I am also an officer for my schools art club. I have countless hours of volunteer work that I’ve accumulated since Freshmen year. I am taking dual credit classes and have maintained A’s in them. I also plan on applying for the What Makes a Star summer program. I took my PSAT last month and I am still waiting for my results and I will be taking my ACT this Saturday. According to my ACT Live Prep account, I am predicted to receive between a 25-28 on my ACT. I will take my ACT at least 2 more times after this. I plan on taking my SAT next month too. Although I don’t have any test scores as of right now, what would my chances be if I received a 30 on my ACT by the beginning of senior year and around a 1900 on my SAT along with an estimated 3.65 gpa at the end of junior year?

I would try to shoot for a 30 ACT and a 2000 SAT. Keep your grades up and take challenging classes. Continue to take math throughout high school. Academics and your preparedness to take Stern classes–which can be math-oriented-- is important. Try to get leadership positions in clubs that reflect your passion.

Good luck!
