NYU(NY) ED1 2018 Discussion

Yeah, technically something. But really nothing. I mean it takes me to just the blank message of “Award access not available” or whatever.

If you wanna see what my page looks like drop your iMessage #/email and I’ll send you pics

Check your email @Marinozai I just sent you the screenshot

For those who have a blue chart in Accept/Decline
… mine still says “Award access not available”

same as @marinozai

Yeah, please do.

So did all of your FAs change on the 27th?

Hi Ella! Still no FA change huh? Hang in there

@rogahen Yup, no change :frowning: Haha thank you!

Read this thread for a while starting around page 40.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/1441723-nyu-ny-rd-2017-discussion-42.html</a></p>

it’s last year’s regular decision results and it proves that the FA change doesn’t mean anything. People with the 2014 aid year listed last year were rejected. so…

Okay, so I have gotten a lot of feedback about whether or not the FA change is an indication. All along, I have been very skeptical. I didn’t think that they would leave something like that unfixed, yet the correlation in the ED2 thread from last year seemed interesting…So I received word from a friend with a friend who was an ex-admissions officer at NYU. This ex-officer gave an explanation that actually made sense to me:
The FA glitch has been happening ever since they started using that particular program. It’s actually not a glitch - everyone’s financial aid updates when someone on the team looks over their app. The glitch is when it doesn’t update - sometimes it doesn’t, randomly. In other words, not an indicator.

So if this is true the FA change basically means nothing? I’m so done with these glitches I’m just going to enjoy these last 14 or 15 days.

Haha I think it’s best we all do that.

I think that there is no way of knowing at this point. There was a strong correlation last year for ED2, but there is also evidence that it means nothing. I think we should spend our time talking about something else and trying to get to know each other better in order to make the next 13 days pass as quickly and as stress-freely as possible.

Yep yep yep! It sounds like the glitch was actually when it didn’t change. But that’s good that we know that now because it would be terrible if someone whose changed, didn’t get in, and had expected to.

I’m still perplexed by how everyone’s who didn’t change last year for ED2 got rejected… Oh well, I guess we will never know. Fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

That might have just been that thread. I mean remember in the RD thread from last year that was not the case. So maybe it was just coincidence.

my FA status didnt change… im worried. hopefully it isnt an indicator !

It’s so weird! On the RD thread it still seemed like it was following the FA change trend, but with a few exceptions. A couple people got accepted with no change and a couple got rejected with a change. it’s very strange. It also looks like at some point nyu changed everybody’s to “access not available” because they figured it out. The blog post from last year freaks me out though. Admissions people are probably reading this like right now.

What blog post - can you link it?

And yeah I think it was just a coincidence.

Jen-Don’t worry about the FA message…we thought it meant something for sure but we now realize it’s [probably] just speculation.

He said decisions weren’t going to be posted on Albert, but clearly they were. There was an accept/decline button on the application status page that was there before the emails were sent out.
