NYU (NY) RD 2017 Discussion

Hey guys! Who is applying RD to NYU? Feel free to discuss everything NYU! No chances please that's just annoying on a discussion thread.

What school are you guys applying too? CAS here! Neuroscience prospect!

Supplement? I thought that the NYU supplement should have demanded a bit more creativity (Yes, I loved the UChicago supplement.). Thoughts?

Hey! I applied to Stern for accounting, but want to be a forensic accountant. It’s kind of a reach for me, since I don’t have stellar stats but you never know! And good luck to everyone :)

Hey, you never know! NYU admissions are rather strange from what I see. I’m sure your stats aren’t that bad.

The main thing is: affordability. NYU has the crappiest FA, so applying when you know you cant afford seems pointless because a) you wont get a “full ride” or any scholarship and b) someone who CAN afford should get accepted in your place.(I’m just talking generally, not to someone specifically).

I applied to CAS! Journalism
I don’t know if I’ll go because of FA, but meh :/

Whatd you guys write for the why NYC campus? I mean I know colleges hate when you focus on location but this question offers no other option!

I sort of related the campus location to my major and how it helped it develop and stuff.

Colleges don’t hate when you focus on location, they hate when you focus on location without finding meaningful connection to the academic experience. I wrote about how NYC is going to have ample opportunities to have internships and co-ops that other places won’t, and other stuff. As long as you related the location in New York to how that is going to help you accel in the NYU environment, you’re fine.

Are any of you international students? I live in the UK and the whole process has been pretty scary :S

For my why NYC campus essay, I wrote about how being in the city and near the financial district will really help me since I want to do business, and how even though I live in NYC, I am never amazed at the endless opportunities, especially the ones that NYU offers.

I applied to Steinhardt for Media, Culture, and Communication. Hoping we can pull it off without FA but we’ll see!

I applied to Gallatin! It was sort of hard to explain why I wanted to do an individualized major when the same supplements were also going to NYUAD (I applied to both). I probably won’t be able to afford NYU if I do get in though :/

colleges don’t hate when you focus on location, but they’ld rather that you focus on the specific school more. I guess it makes more sense for NYU though, since you could talk about it not being a traditional campus, but you have to remember the question is why NYU, not why NYC.

good luck to us all! :)

I applied to CAS for Polisci  I know I may not get good FA but I thought I might as well apply anyway! What did you all write for academic interest?

Removed by the poster after reconsidering posting a snarky diatribe.

I’m an international student from UK and applied to Gallatin for fashion/maths. Can’t believe we all find out on April fool’s day…

^haha I know, April’s fools day is one of the worst days, hopefully we get some decisions a little before then, maybe a week before!

do we? xD I didn’t try to find out notification dates so I don’t get too impatient for results to come. if it does come out on April fools than I’ll be worried that the decision I get will be a prank

yay a poli sci kid! that was my original major, but I changed it last minute to CAS international relations. we’ll see, but my first choice without a doubt is UVA (i live in fairfax county)

The whole intl thing kind of sucks, especially since two of us applied - the other kid applied ED and he already got in :S April Fool’s day will be the end of my life…

Applied to CAS frm india  lets hope we all get in and its not a prank

I have applied to CAS from India too
Hoping I get in. FA is not an issue for me and I haven’t even applied for it, moreover colleges dont even give FA to international students easily. So anyway! It sucks to be waiting so long for our decision!
