NYU rescind

@muf123, how did your daughters friend explain? and was she/he ok in the end?

I was predicted 40/42. Ended up getting 37/42 and was fine (but I think my high school also reported my GPA).

@deathblade I PMed you.

Not to scare you, but I know someone whose acceptance was rescinded at the end of summer, after he got a severe case of senioritis. I’m not sure about the details, but I believe NYU asked him to spend a year at a CC and hit a minimum GPA before he could come as a transfer. I don’t know how bad his case of senioritis was, but knowing him, it was probably pretty catastrophic. A five point drop - which works out to just under a drop of one grade per subject - is probably not going to be an automatic rescind like in the above case, but I don’t have any inside info for you, just anecdotal info.

the thing is, I heard a 6-7 in IB is equivalent to an A, 5 B, 4 C, so if all 7’s drop to all 6’s, that would still be all A’s/As-, and for people who take IB, especially HL sciences and esp HL math, there is seriously a bit of luck required to secure the 7…

Any updates on rescinds? I was predicted 37 and accepted to NYU off the waitlist a week before grades come out. Should I accept the admission now and hope my grades were good or wait until I see my grades to accept?.. I don’t think the exams went well… I think I’ll be lucky to get low 30 /:
