@thawowtso no…I find it unnecessary to go back to China, and it didn’t make sense of studying abroad. I think the most important factor I wouldn’t apply is that, we’re not sure if that NYSH would be good as we say, or fails like a chinese university, disappointed everyone else except local students.

@jeff18 thats a lot of the concern that I have too. If I am accepted (and that is a huge if) then I will have to consider a lot of these things. A lot of it comes down to the fact that the tuition (for students from the United States) is the same as NYU New York, and the quality of education at the Shanghai campus may be sub-par.

Its really impossible to say until NYUSH has become more developed. But in their defense, a lot of the same concerns were expressed about NYU Abu Dhabi, and it ended up being a success.

Woo! I was just accepted into NYU Shanghai ED1!!! Omg I am going crazy right now.

I’m just a little confused on NYUSH…do you live there for all four years or just a couple semesters?

All four years!

I figured I would give this thread a little bump- I am dying to meet someone else from the United States (or wherever, really) who is applying/was accepted.

I’m applying RD :)

Great! Post of you’re interviewed or accepted!

Hi there - I’ve been accepted ED1 as well, female from NJ (: hoping to study Business or Econ, haven’t decided yet

I wish more people would post on CC or the Facebook group, I’ve wanted to talk to other admits as well :/

I PMed you add me on facebook! Theres a NYU Shanghai facebook page now, and apparently they are going to send out invites after the holidays to ED accepted students for an official inaugural class page. So exciting!

Gotta start learning Chinese…

I’ll keep bumping this in case people are still considering applying RD

… which they should totally do btw

I applied ED2

WooHoo! Are you from Pakistan?

Yeah. Do you know of any applicants from Pakistan?

No I’m sorry I think because the schools so international, its harder to find people applying.
but there are bound to be some- there will probably be more in the Regular Decision applicant pool.

Hi there.I’m from China and i have just one thing to say. Most of the students in China are eager to go to Beijing or Shanghai for higher education cuz life there will be wonderful, not to mention the novelty SH brings to foreigners.Happy to find many people considered study in China(^-^)

Sent from my HTC Desire S using CC

Hi!!! It is so exciting to hear from a student in China! I agree, its terrifying to leave home (for me it is the United States) to move across the world, but so many students leave China for the States to go to college, so if they can do it so can I

Shanghai (and Beijing) will be very exciting to study in. By the time I graduate, Shanghai will feel more like home than Texas.

@yzyzlhtsdw are you applying to/attending NYU Shanghai?

Hi! I’m a white girl applying from MA. I had wanted to apply ED but my parents did not let me, so here I am in the RD round. Has anyone been contacted for interviews yet? I’m kinda nervous about getting one or not.

hey! You’re from Massachusetts? Thats so exciting! Even though Im from Texas its like coming from the same place if we end up together at NYUSH.

I haven’t heard about anyone from the RD pool being contacted for interviews, but I can say that my interviewers told me that they are only interviewing competitive candidates and I was contacted for an interview just a week and a half before decisions were handed out.
So by the time I had an interview, it was literally a week before I was supposed to hear back. There are different people interviewing for different areas, so I between those two things I wouldn’t be worried if you aren’t immediately contacted… Its kinda a toss up about whats going on with NYUSH right now. It could be the easiest school to get into or the hardest, I don’t think anyone has a clue about how many applicants they got, if they were well qualified, or if they expected more.
Oh well, I am so happy with NYUSH that even if they had a 100% acceptance rate I would still go to it over Harvard

oh! But you said that your parents didn’t let you apply ED? You should tell your interviewers that you would go to NYUSH if accepted (if that is true for you). Because I originally listed NYU Stern as my first choice of schools on my Common App, and when I was contacted for an interview, I told my interviewers that the only reason I chose Stern over SH was because I thought I had a better chance of getting in, and if I could just choose between the two, I would choose SH in a heartbeat. The next day on my Albert account, SH was moved to my first choice above Stern.
They really want to accept people who they know want to be there and I think if you do a good job expressing that and the reason you didn’t apply ED, then your chances could be helped.

Good Luck! I’m dying to meet yall haha

Okay, good to know that no one else has heard about interviews, I was freaking out. I do hope I’m competitive enough, but I’m not exactly sure how competitive it’s going to be! I have 2350 and 3.85 uw so I hope that puts me in line. I just don’t want it to be as competitive as NYUAD (yet, at least).

And I will definitely tell them it’d be my first choice if I even do get interviewed (fingers crossed). I’m getting sososo nervous these days.

You’re lucky to be able to know so early. These next 2-3 months shall be a pain.
