Your stats are similar to mine, so I think you have a good chance I havent heard like anything from Americans who are applying, so its possible that they haven’t had enough applicants. But I guess we won’t be able to tell until they release admissions stats.

I’m with you about the Abu Dhabi bit- I hope it gets as competitive in the future so the value of the degree is increased, but lucky that it doesnt seem to be that way this year (cause I would not have been competitive for AD! haha)

Hey guys… I’m from Nigeria. I applied to NYUAD and NYUSH… I will be in Abu Dhabi for the candidate weekend on Feb. 14 but I have heard nothing from Shanghai… Btw I applied RD for both… Btw, I also saw somewhere( I think NYUSH site) that the pioneer class (class of 2017) will be about 300 students… 150 will be Chinese

Yes, the class will be about 300 students. Officially, 151 from China and 149 from the rest of the world. I dont know why they couldn’t just make it half… but yeah thats it

You probably won’t hear anything from NYUSH until later, it seems like they are conducting their interviews pretty late. And since you applied RD, they will probably interview the EDII students first.

Well I wish you good luck in both your applications! But I personally hope I’ll see you in August at NYUSH XD

Yh. It would b awesome to be the first class in NYUSH. I just pray dey have top class curriculum nd faculty… Cuz i am considering turnin down 6 ivies (hyp included). I thnk NYUAD and NYUSH have sumthng dat dey dnt have…dat global feel…if u guys get wat i mean… Well cnt wait 4 NYUSH reply… I might just study in Asia instead of the States… Wat a glorious turn of events. Cnt wait to meet my new fam/friends in Asia.

I feel the same way! I was thinking to myself: would I rather go to Harvard or NYUSH? And even though I could never get into hyp, I would still choose NYUSH over them if I had a choice

Its so strange being its first year open, but this is such a beyond amazing opportunity. NYU is the first school to open a four year university in China! I know that other schools like Duke are now trying to do the same thing and open four year universities in China ([Duke In China Duke Kunshan University](http://spotlight.duke.edu/dukeinchina/dku/)). But they got nothin on NYU! This whole thing is so surreal its like its a dream.

Yeah, since its their first year open they are only offering majors in a few ares: Social Sciences (Business/Finance, Econ), STEM (your math, sciences, and engineering), and Humanities (China Studies, “Integrated Humanities”).

However, since the inaugural class of 300 is only a fraction of the 3,000 they expect NYUSH to hold at full capacity in the years to come, the major options right now are limited. They do plan to offer minors in areas that are demanded by enough students, but the process will really depend on where their students seem to be focusing.

It will be really interesting to see what will become of NYUSH as it develops.

I got an email today that is explaining the deal with Candidate Weekends at NYUSH. As of this year, they are inviting 500 Chinese students to 6 Candidate Weekends in February and March.
The EDI International Students who were accepted are invited to one of the Candidate Weekends just to visit the Campus, experience Shanghai, and meet other classmates. I don’t believe any of the RD or EDII students will be visiting, but if anyone hears differently lets us know!

I would imagine in the years to come (especially after the campus is officially built) that the Candidate weekend will function similarly to the NYUAD weekends, but I figured i’d tell yall how it seems to be this year.

I guess if I were to get selected for the interview, I would’ve heard back by now. But looks like it not happening. So here goes my dream of NYUSH.

Anyways, that’s a great news you tell @thawowtso ! Do let us know here how many students were accepted on ED1 Also, let us know how the experience was, the campus, the students, the faculty, the trial classes(judging from the NYUAD CW) and everything And have fun That’s the least you can do for us NYUSH dreamers (or hopeful rejects )

There’s only nine on the Facebook group so we all have been trying to figure out how many were accepted and if there were more why they didn’t join the group! Oh well, I guess we will get to meet them at the CW.

And ill definitely let yall know what its like, and if yall get an interveiw tell us :)

Have you made a QQ account yet? I assume you’ll need one as FB will be blocked over there, haha. I’m interested to see what the Chinese student body would be like.

I’m actually really interested about the location. I was Google earthing it and I believe it’s near a mall and a stadium, so it seems like there would be things to do! I’m also curious about what the dorms would be like, etc.

@Antarctica (I dont know why i keep doing that, we are the only ones talking )

But no, I don’t have a QQ account (or Weibo) mostly because I can’t speak Chinese and my computer translator doesn’t work very well xD

But ECNU (the school that we will be staying at until NYUSH is officially built) has Wifi that is not blocked. So I can access Youtube, Facebook, Google, etc with no problems over there. Its part of the school’s agreement with the Chinese government on an academic free zone. On top of that, apparently NYU provides their students with a VPN (Virtual Private Network- it bounces your signal, so it seems like you are accessing from a different country) as so you can use the internet when you’re not on campus.

ECNU (only the inaugural class will be staying there their freshman year) is further out of Shanghai- its near the Jade Temple, but is still on the subway line. But the actual NYUSH buildings will be in Pudong (right in the middle of the skyscraper district) As of now, there will be two buildings- one academic building and a dorm- and they are about a 15 minute walk away from each other. They will be completed in the summer of 2014

If you go to their website (shanghai.nyu.edu) you can see some pictures of what the academic building will look like. There aren’t any for the dorms so they probably aren’t even close to being done yet. I’m with you- I’m dying to know what the dorms will look like I need to know what to pack and what to leave!

Its really weird if the EDII interviews haven’t been requested yet… but even weirder if they have already been sent out but no one has posted anything!

I called to ask. They said they’ve already sent out the interview requests. And if anyone hasn’t heard about the interview till 9th february, it means they’re not selected.

I didn’t get any :’(

Good luck to everyone who has applied though I’m sure when acceptances come in, people will post here. so no need to be worried :)
