Do you know if this only applies for EDII or applies for RD as well? If so, I’m really sad… :(

I guess I should’ve applied early, all of the spots in the American girl category may have been taken. Sigh

Im really sad to hear that the stuff I read of yours was great, so don’t give up. You’ll be accepted somewhere great :)

@Antarctica

I’m pretty positive its only for EDII, the deadline for RD applications was only seven days ago, and there is no way that could’ve determined interviews that fast! Plus, for both the EDI and EDII the interviews were not requested until a week before decisions went out. So if I was a RD applicant, I wouldn’t expect an interview until March.

Plus, I think I’ve seen your stats, and I remember they were really impressive! I think that they did not attract the American audience. Not a lot of Americans were too fond on the idea of moving to China it seems. So far, there are only three Americans admitted (and no US guys) and one is ethnically Chinese, the other just moved here from Eastern Europe, and the other is me (…and my stats are worse than yours!). That really makes me think that there are a ton of spots for students from the United States, its probably more competitive for other International students.

Either way, best of luck! I hope I’ll get to see you in August xD

@thawowtso

Oh, I do hope so. x] And wait, the RD deadline was 2/1? I thought it was 1/1, did they extend it?

Having lived in China with a host family for about two months, I can see the hesitation with Americans going to China. It’s a complete 180. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed my experience, and so when I saw NYU Shanghai, I was quite eager. (Also because I love modern cities, such as Shanghai). I do hope there’s still more spots. :3

@Antarctica Yes, it is just for ED2 applicants.

And I agree with thawowtso. If your stats are good enough AND if your first choice was NYUSH out of three campus choices, then i’m pretty sure you’ll get in Have faith.

Thanks guys. I do hope I get in somewhere good. But I guess med school awaits me here in Pakistan (if i have to go, I should start it by mid march) NYUSH was one of my last hopes though. Med school isn’t bad too, I guess :)

Anyways, Good luck to you all I hope you guys have a blast!

@thepakiboy

If you do end up going to med school, I bet you’ll do very well there. :)

Good luck to you too!

@thawowtso

I was just looking through youtube and I’m pretty sure I just found you, rofl. A video for MSNBC about Shanghai sound familiar?

Thank you :)

The pakiboy, we ae all hopeful. I’m an ED 2 applicant and I haven’t received anything :(. I’m from Nigeria BTW

I sometimes think they got only a couple of ED2 applicants, so they’re not interviewing any so they’ll accept everyone who applied ED2 ;)

But what contradicts this thought is that they told me all the interview requests have been sent already All we can do now is prepare ourselves for the worst, which in this case is rejection.

Don’t be disheartened. I’m sure a better future awaits us. Whatever happens, happens for our best. We just gotta believe in it and accept whatever life throws at us, knowing that it’s only for our betterment.

Thispakiboy, I was rejected by Abu dhabi last year, and I know that the same thing is gonna happen this year cause I was not invited for Candidate Weekend and now I’m having a problem with shanghai. Its really hard.

It all depends on what you did in the year. Did you improve your scores? Extra curriculars? Anything new? Did you intern somewhere? Won some award? It all depends on how your application defers from the previous year and did you improve or not?

I am also an NYUAD reject from last year though didn’t get invite for the CW. Let’s see how this plays into our applications for this year…

Do u have Facebook @pakiboy

I had. Not now :)

It’s too much time wasting :D

haha!!! You probably did find me, my name is Emily xD Oh gosh, thats funny though. I forget sometime how easy it is to find people online!
Yeah, I’ve kinda been going crazy trying on youtube looking up videos about Shanghai and posting on message boards. Its too crazy to be happening!

Rejected :D

Kinda saw it coming :P

hey guys, so i joined CC just to post on this thread, been reading it for a while while obsessing over my NYUAD n esp NYUSH app!! ==’ So, yay I got accepted to NYUSH, and i found out just yesterday that the emails were coming in then(ytd) lol i started freaking out and couldn’t sleep yet i live in Asia n i’m like 12 hours from NYUNY admin office lol.

OK, i just wanna talk to @thawowtso since she’s so sure she wants to go!! After i got the admission, i started freaking out about it all. I’ll have to accept my EDII decision by march 15 and cancel apps to schools like Brown n UPenn tht i was considering for RD. Also, i need finaid since i’m a scholarship kid, so that might prevent me from going to NYUSH if i can’t afford.

But right now, i just need to be convinced to go!! I’m so pumped at all the opportunities being in a premier class in China but what about all the other stuff i’ll be giving up?? So guys who are positive they’re going or convinced about it, please let me know what helped you make up your mind!!

I’m an international kid, African to be precise!

Can all the accepted people please post their stats?

@thepakiboy

I am sorry to hear that But your app was great, you’ll go somewhere great for school!

@24thnkima

You were accepted EDII? Thats very exciting! Although, as far as being convinced to go, Early Decision is binding, so if you are fitted with a Financial Aid package then you have to go. But, don’t withdraw your other apps until you hear back about the aid, if they don’t give you enough then you wouldn’t want to be left without any options :)

But the reason I chose NYUSH was because it offered a completely new experience. Although it doesn’t have the physical buildings and basis that other schools may, it does have a unique experience that you can’t get anywhere else. It is the first foreign school to receive accreditation from the Chinese Ministry of Education, but it won’t be the last. Other schools are already moving to do the same thing that NYU has done because they see the value and importance of an international education. Like Duke is in the process of creating “Duke Kunshan” which is a four year university in Kunshan, China. In the future for finding a job, it is going to be important to have the kind of cooperation ability and understanding to work with people of different cultures. Thats what really did it for me, the fact that half the class was going to be Chinese Educated, and the rest from around the world. If I went to any other school, I would not have had the opportunity to meet people from all different backgrounds and areas.

As far as the things I’ll be giving up, there is a lot of them. Mostly, I am giving up a traditional college experience, but I will be experiencing things in their place that most college students may never have the chance to. I will also give up some comfort that I have back home, but I have always dreamed of living in studying abroad, and there is not a better time to do that then now. If I graduated from another school, then if I decided to move to China for business/work it would be much harder on myself because I would have already created friends or boyfriends that would prevent me from wanting to leave. When I graduate from NYUSH, then my life will be right there in Shanghai. I will have friends across the world, a skill set (like speaking Mandarin) that is unbeatable, and China will be my home.
