Nyu stern transfer

Hi guys,

I'm a high school senior and I want to transfer to Stern next year.

I was wondering how important senior year grades are because I've been letting my grades go this term. Im hoping they only look at your freshmen year grades for college. I was also wondering if any of you guys have or know of anyone who transfered into Stern from Fordham CBA.

Thank you, and i hope to see your replies!

The requirements for NYU's College of Arts & Sciences say that:

The most competitive applicants to the College of Arts and Science have taken all liberal arts courses at their current institution and have earned consistent A to A- grades in their individual college classes, generally with a cumulative GPA of around 3.7 or higher.

Additionally, competitive students have also generally performed at a very high level in high school with around the same A to A- average overall in their five major academic subjects: English, math, science, history and foreign language.

Since Stern is even more competitive than CAS, I would say it is a terrible idea to slack off right now, especially if you know that you're going to transfer.

As far as I know, freshmen applicants to NYU are somewhat impacted by their high school transcript and the college GPA. Since your planning on transferring out of one year whichever school you are planning to go to, NYU Stern will most likely look at your high school transcript and judge you strictly from both your college and high school background.

It is because you are transferring from one year (when applying they will only have 1 semester of work) that your high school background becomes relevant to the admission process. If you had more units, finished the Stern prereqs, and stayed an additional year then most likely your high school work becomes somewhat irrelevant and only your college background will be reviewed heavily.

NYU Stern is highly competitive for transferring into, so I recommend you to attain a high college GPA of at least 3.7-4.0, finish the prereqs, have some nice EC's, and etc. to help your chances in transferring.

I'll be applying for Fall 10' transfer to NYU Stern and I'm currently a freshmen in a California Community College.

carter - you're a senior in high school still. why don't you wait until you get to college before you worry about transferring? you're assuming that you will hate the place you are initially going to without even being there. it is very naive. as an example, my friend is currently enrolled at Fordham CBA and got a guaranteed transfer to Cornell for his sophomore year. he ended up loving fordham and isn't going to transfer. i guess what i'm saying is to be open-minded.
