<p>I apologize for posting this in the "What are my chances?" forum. I just realized that it belongs on this board...</p>
<p>I hope to transfer to NYU Steinhardt Media, Culture and Communications with over 64 credits in the spring semester of 2011. I'm currently attending a community college in Michigan and have a 3.75 GPA. However, I have 3 repeats and 3 Ws on my transcript :/ .</p>
<p>Three of the repeats were in my first semester. During that time, I underwent tremendous personal stress as I was "coming out." At least for me, it was a bit of a troubling time. However, I have since repeated those classes and received excellent grades.</p>
<p>One of the Ws is an isolated incident and simply involved me missing a major exam due to an illness (it is a W-satisfactory, however). The other two Ws involved me dropping the class because it conflicted with my work schedule (these are also W-satisfactory grades).</p>
<p>I hope to offset the Ws and repeats with my excellent extracurricular involvement and work experience. I have had paid positions on 3 campaigns since 2006, ran as a candidate for township trustee and serve on the board of two statewide organizations. Also, I have excellent letters of recommendation and a great essay that explains my future plans and how I have grown as a person since my terrible high school grades. I do not plan on submitting SAT scores as I have over 64 credits.</p>
<p>As a side note, there are a couple semesters where my course load only consisted of 12 credits because of the Ws. However, I have completed all of my pre-reqs in math, science, social science, humanities, foreign language, etc. Also, in my last semester I received a 4.0 with 21 credits and zero Withdrawals.</p>
<p>Please let me know what you think of my chances.</p>
