NYU Transfer Fall 2019

@aheav352 I was actually struggling with this while writing my why nyu essay and eventually decided to apply to tandon instead of CAS. CAS has more of nyu’s core curriculum, meaning more liberal arts courses, etc. Tandon has less of these plus u graduate with a BS instead of a BA. The only downside i can think of is CAS is actually on the NYU campus while Tandon is separated.

Also i think Tandon computer science applicants hear back later than other majors cause its so popular. Hopefully this week.

@lisun1998 I’m on my way out the door so I don’t have time to view your film, but I’ll say based on stats alone you’re doing way better than me. I’ve attended two colleges and between them my gpa is like a 2.6 The best thing I have going for me is the fact that one of the colleges I attended was NYU during my freshman year, so I’m hoping the fact that I got in once will get me in again lol. Also, both of my rec letters come from NYU professors, including a Tisch professor who’s sight and sound class i took last summer and got an A in.

Also, does anyone know if the Satifactory Academic Progress is a good sign or something we all have? Mine says Meeting SAP for 2019 and SAP undetermined for 2020. It’s the only change I think I’ve noticed

@oceansquare Don’t say that please </3 As a Gallatin applicant you’re breaking my heart. Those trends are really limited to a small sample of applicants from past years, I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s become a nervous wreck over this trend. Good luck everyone!

@purple229 I didn’t mean to say anything that would hurt anyone. I simply re-posted what someone else found in the last year trend and given off that, stated what I thought would be next. Good luck to you.

@lisun1998 I applied to Tisch dramatic writing and just watched your film. Your location is perfect and there are some amazing shots - the ‘standoff’ really stood out to me. A couple of comments: The cowboy looking at themself in the mirror was aesthetically nice but didn’t seem to add to their characterization imo. I think if you were to have shown them paying more care to their belongings through tidying rituals, etc. it would’ve better conveyed their “cowboy nobleness”. Also, the tourist’s camera is such a huge part of their identity it’s a little difficult to see them leave it behind when they ultimately chose to leave. I think an external force, such as approaching footsteps, forcing them to leave would be stronger.

Thanks for sharing! I think you showcased some great skills in your film and wish you luck during this waiting period. I love opportunities to analyze student works as I too am working on developing my cinematic literacy. I think it’s really cool when filmmakers express vulnerability by asking opinions and believe that’s the best way to improve your craft!

i don’t really get how the changes in the portal work. if i don’t see any changes the day before the decision, is it safe to say i’m already out?

just curious, does GLS get a lot of applications? is it less competitive than the other schools? thanks

@frafont what do you mean day before the decision. Is there a specific decision date we will here by

@frafont until you are notified one way or the other, it may be best not to read too much into any of these things. DD is waiting to hear about CAS and saw changes in her portal yesterday, but she’s decided until she is notified and given a decision that she will just wait and not get ahead of herself. Good luck.

@nervygirl1 there is no set date for everybody, but they seem to be giving out decisions every thursday. somebody even calculated what kinds of decisions come in what days based on past years, it’s in this thread, you should check it out

@GrusMinion I guess you’re right, I just can’t stand waiting

@frafont You aren’t along. Hang in there.

hi all! i applied to the CCTOP program at steinhardt for applied psychology and just have a quick question… i dont have to submit my standardized test scores because i have more than 30 credits but i keep getting emails saying they are missing… I emailed them about a month ago the first time i received the email and my admissions counselor responded almost immediately saying that my application was complete… however, i just got the same email today. should i email them again about it, or should i just leave it be?

you should call the office

Is there a wave today?

@hyzkxo I don’t think CAS has a wave today…but maybe some other schools…I am not sure

@GrusMinion would you mind sharing the changes in the portal your daughter saw yesterday? Good luck!!

I’m getting pretty anxious.

Wondering if anybody has gotten any word about NYU CAS decisions yet? Any acceptances?
