NYU Transfer Fall 2019

Steinhardt Music Business applicant here - still waiting. No update/changes to portal either!

cas econ too - thought i’d hear back today but i guess not i’m just going to expect a rejection so the blow hurts less lol

anyone else on this thread accepted to bu?

@basketball45 I was accepted to BU, will most likely go there since NYU is taking forever to release. I need to secure housing so it looks like I won’t be waiting on NYU…

I see that a lot of people have been accepted, congratulations guys!!! Just some advice from me, I got accepted at the beginning of the month so I’ve been get my paper filled out. So here are some next steps for guys:

  1. If you receive an email stating transfer credit evaluation DO IT IMMEDIATELY. Some of your advisers WILL NOT or cannot help you determine your classes for next semester if you don’t have it completed.

  2. Enrollment begins on June 26th, so you need to have a schedule made before then.

  3. Get your health stuff done, it’s easy and I feel like a lot of people just push off it till the last moment

@amberly99 don’t worry im on the same boat as you :// what did you apply for?

So I basically got no financial aid even though my EFC is 0. I submitted my CSS almost 2 months before the deadline, but it wasn’t processed until a few days after the deadline. Did that probably contribute to that or is the financial just normally that bad?

When I called the admissions office yesterday I asked the lady if they were releasing every Thursday (I know they are, just making sure) and she had the nerve to deny it ? like just be straightforward about it you’re killing us slowly

@kmalin I’m transferring as a junior so I didn’t get that question…but maybe double check with them to make sure that you are in 100% and is not a conditional acceptance or anything! (to be safe ya know)

Accepted to Gallatin yesterday.

HS GPA: 3.87
College GPA: 3.82
Attend a small regional school in the NE

SAT: 1380
Class rank: n/a

@techsavvygirl tbh I’m losing faith in the admission officers lmao. Someone called and the admission officer told them that the decisions are rolling (which is NOT true because I submitted in Feb and another person submitted in October… we’re still waiting). I emailed them myself and an officer replied saying, “Decisions are not released in a particular order. Timing of submission does not affect a decision, as long as it was before the deadline.” This contradicts what the previous admission officer said smh ?

@ApocaIypse It’s probably rolling based on something else. Whether you’re international, what major, school, where you’re transferring from, etc. If someone were to look through all the past year’s transfer threads there would probably be some sort of trend.

@jw8001 thanks for the advice! Hopefully many of us will find ourselves in a position to benefit from it soon enough

“Transfer decisions are released on a rolling basis and you can expect to receive your decision any time between now and the end of June.

Let us know if there is anything else that we can do to help.

All the best,

David Kerman
Assistant Director of Admissions”

“The Office of Admissions releases transfer decisions intermittently throughout the month of May. You should receive your decision by the end of this month.

If you have any questions or concerns, you may email or call 212-998-4500 to speak with an admissions representative.

Best,
Chelsea Duncan
Associate Director”

Two different answers… end of June vs end of May. EYE-… well.

I’m convinced these admission officers are just student workers desperately trying to keep up with the flood of emails from students and parents. Like, they really be saying whatever?

@ApocaIypse , rolling doesn’t mean first in first out, it just means that decisions are announced over a period of time rather than on one specific date.

hello!

i was accepted last week to tisch for cinema studies, and am planning to attend. for those who have already been accepted, I was curious what your plans were for housing? i’m super worried because housing isn’t guaranteed for transfers, and from talking to office of res life it sounds like the only way to guarantee I have somewhere to live is by finding an apartment off-campus. just curious what everyone else’s plans were-- as this discussion seems to be the best/only way to connect with other NYU transfer students.

thanks!!

@SJ2727 Ohhh, that makes better sense. Thanks for clarifying!

@pmnyu16 i also applied to cinema studies but still haven’t heard from them. were you accepted 2 days ago? also, would you mind sharing your stats?

@pmnyu16 I got into Tisch for Film and TV production and have to go in the summer for a class. I filled out the housing application (which I highly recommended you do if you haven’t already- it does not commit you to housing if you get it, it’s just an offer) and am waiting for a response. I joined a bunch of NYU/NYC apartment groups on Facebook just in case I need to find a place in July. If I get into housing for the fall semester I’m renting an Airbnb for my summer class.
