NYU Transfer Fall 2019

I applied to NYU for CAS transfer and I’m still waiting for a decision eek. Just for summer planning purposes aand for those that got accepted, when are the open houses or any important dates over the summer?

I’m still waiting for a decision as well and im so nervous! lol. does anyone know when the absolute last day decisions will come out?

@eniracunamakiotu I think the day must be before the end of June because the deposit seems to be at the end of June

I sent an email to ask whether I can upload any materials but NYU admission office replied that at this moment “it is unlikely we will be able to review any additional materials”

Anyone for CAS Sociology heard back?

I asked them whether our chances of admittance decreases the later we hear back and this is what they said:

“Transfer decisions are released on a rolling basis, no matter what your academic background is or when you applied. Ideally you will hear back in the next week or two; in some cases though, we do go into June.

Best,

Priti Ravani”

Whether they admit it or not, if NYU reviews a student’s application much earlier, they statistically have a better chance of getting in cause they don’t have to worry about space limitations. If your application gets reviewed much later, NYU is going to start factoring in how much space they have and it will be more competitive. Just my two cents.

Early today I called and got my standardized tests waived for my checklist. I just noticed transfer credits in my portal. Is this a good sign?

still have my applicant checklist up… i hope we hear back on thursday just to get this over with

for those accepted, there’s a facebook group “nyu admitted transfer students, fall 2019” there’s not a lot of people in it yet but i figured i’d put it out there

Thank you @jw8001

I submitted my NYU application pretty…early…so I am just not sure why my application had been hold so late.
And, no portal change today.

i submitted mine in like mid october i think … ive heard back from every other school (umich and suny oswego got back to me the fastest) so at this point it almost feels as if i havent even applied to nyu

@kmalin same, I have heard back from every school except for NYU ?

(my apps were sent in Feb—not as early as yours but still…)

This might be a dumb question but, does requesting financial aid affect whether you’re accepted or not? Do you get accepted/rejected before they review how much financial aid you’ll get or the other way around?

@purple229 it matters if you are domestic or international. They are need blind for domestic applicants but need aware for internationals. (I am assuming they apply same principle to transfers as freshman applicants here)

@jakecap1123 thanks for replying to me! yeah, i plan to submit the housing application as soon as i commit (which i am tomorrow)-- hoping for a miracle there but not holding out much hope so am already on the apartment hunt, also through the facebook groups. congratulations on your admission and have a great summer at NYU!!

how much does nyu actually cost

If you search on the NYU website, they should have a breakdown of “Cost of Attendance” or COA.

@kmalin here is the estimated break down of cost of attendance on my Albert:

Books & Supplies = $412.00
Fees = $1,074.00
Room & Board = $7,445.00
Loan Fees = $29.00
Miscellaneous = $1,379.00
Transportation = $555.00
Tuition = $25,395.00
Term Total = $36,289.00
Total Cost of Attendance = $72,578.00

Of course this is just a predicted amount, if you remove a bunch of stuff such as room and board and maybe downsize the misc and other stuff it comes down to around 60,000. However, I believe your actual tuition is only calculated after you enroll in classes, so this isn’t a good judgement of how much tuition really is.
