Aoguy, you're applying to stern right. I think your gpa is fine. Your sat and hs school gpa is low if your applying as a rising sophomore because they will def. be looking at that.

i applied last year and was rejected. does nyu look at sat taken during the freshman year?

NY1215, they will usually look at it when you only have one semester of classes.

do they look at the SAT if I finish 2 semesters of classes, cause if they do um like 99% sure i wouldnt get accepted due to my really bad SAT score, but i still have a really gud highschool gpa, and wuts more important, highschool gpa or the SAT score

if your applying as a spring transfer. they will probably look at it less because they will care about your college work load more.

hi, Do I need the SAT II Scores to transfer to NYU as a sophomore? (Freshman this year)

bassmon, heres ur answer NYU > Undergraduate Admissions > Applying for Admission > Transfer Applicants > Standardized Tests

Do you think that my freshman year GPA would outweigh my hs record?

I think it could. NYU is really weird about accepting transfers. I know some kid who got in with a 3.0 hs gpa and a 3.7 gpa. so you never know. Just take a chance.

when does NYU start informing the students about their decision?

Does anyone know how much SATs or ACTs come into play when its for transfers? They require transfer students to send their scores, but is it that important that you may not get in if your scores are too low?

From what I've heard from others on this board, the general rule of thumb is if you have less than 32 credits complete (a typical full academic year), your high school GPA and SAT/ACTs will be given a much higher consideration. If you have more than 32 credits complete, your current school is looked at more.

Really though, having a high GPA isn't anywhere near the biggest factor the admissions board looks at. They get 36,000 applicants per year, most of which are very high performing students, they'd never be able to choose if they just went by that. It's to some extent your ECs, your letter of recommendation, and your essay that will set you apart from other applicants.

I apply to NYU but I don't know if I can afford it and what the FA is like.

hey! I'm thinking of applying as a transfer...not so sure though. I'm at George Mason U now as a neuroscience major (I'd like to do the same thing at NYU), and I really regret not applying to a lot of really "good" schools, but overall I'm okay here.

I'm not sure what my chances are but my stats were:
HS GPA: 3.75
SAT's:
CR: 760
W: 660
M: 520

I'd prob. be transferring for Fall 2009, but I'll still have to see how my GPA here turns out.

My math score was REALLY low, pretty much because I started to fall asleep at that point. ugh. :(
Since they say not to retake the SAT I, do you think if I took the SAT Math subject test and scored really highly on it that it would be okay? Or do they even accept scores from SAT subject tests completed after high school. They say that rec. 2, but I didn't take ANY!

hey guys, i'm a freshman at a public college in new york (Baruch College if anyone heard of it) and im hoping to transfer to stern 2009 as a sophomore ...

I checked the forums at NYU and i read somewhere saying that it's good to take financial and managerial acct, which isnt offered to us freshmen until our sophomore year. but i'm taking calculus, microecon, writing and other classes (16 credits semester), would that suffice?

Is it harder to get into NYU if i come from a public college in NY?

If I don't apply for financial aid, would that increase my chances of getting in?

and last question (pretty dumb question) ... is there a transfers early decision lol .

When does the transfer application open ? I'm looking at the application right now ... but it doesnt seem to say that it has a transfer application for fall 2009 transfers, only for 2008 fall transfers (which already passed?).

and the questions are the same as last years ... o_o does it not change?

Not for any reason I can see. They've taken kids from community colleges and ivy league schools. I don't think it really matters where you went, but what you did.

They say it won't, but I think it will.

They have rolling admissions. Not exactly ED, but if you apply right when the application goes up you have a better shot than somebody who applied close to the deadline. Basically they take people based on the amount of slots they have to fill. More slots in the beggining = better chance.

I honestly don't know. Soon I guess.

thank you olives !!

is it really true that transfers = rolling admissions ?

bump 10 char ~~~

y is this thread so dead?
