NYU Waitlist - 2010

ya also waitlisted here with a 2110 and 3.8 … ■■■

i got waitlisted just said above and i want to stay on just the link isint working for me when i type it in… can someone copy and paste the link for me… thanks

@ntrading : That sucks @@. I got in(LSP’ed) with a 1940 && a 96% GPA(weighted)(but without the college classes I took, or else it would be much higher XD)

That’s quite disappointing.
My stats are here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new-york-university/895617-chance-me-please.html</a></p>

Considering I haven’t received anything yet, I’m quite worried. What do you think will come in my letter?

well i would say acceptance. we have similar stats but you have alot more extracirriculars. Let me know how it goes.

WORD omg people who are on the same page as me! yay friends.

and yeah, meiday and ismashcorner, i sent my stats

though i think that with a waiting list, a lot depends on what you bring to the table as an individual, but heck, what do i know! fingers crossed!

dear NYU, please accept us waitlistees. love, tahtah, typing from the couch that i havent moved from since i found out about my decision

Man, I would be so disappointed if they didn’t like my idea of spending a day with Ghostbusters…

haah ghostbusters, thats clever! yo omg i feel like such a boring dweeb, i used gatsby (from the novel). should have said lady gaga.

Haha. I was going to do a boring one too. Came close to doing either Truman Capote or gatsby but decided Ghostbusters is a better choice.

Maylix, I’m in CA and got into several UCs, also got waitlisted for NYU…
where do you prefer going to?

Uh…I hate to bring this up, but I found this thread from like 5 years ago (idk if it’s still valid…but…it can’t be completely off): http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/45272-waitlisted-statistical-chances-getting-13.html</a></p>

pg 13, post 182:

Link to Common Data Set:
404

2003
Number of qualified Applicants Placed on Wait List…1987
Number Accepting a Place on the Wait List…NA
Number of wait-listed Students Admitted…257
Total Class Size… …4219
6.1% of Class came from the wait list

2002
Number of qualified Applicants Placed on Wait List…2138
Number Accepting a Place on the Wait List…NA
Number of wait-listed Students Admitted…190
Total Class Size… …4169
4.6% of Class came from the wait list

–> The link doesn’t work anymore…but how can the the percentage increase to 52% in 5 years?

That doesn’t list how many people accepted a spot on the wait list. So we don’t really know what the true chance percentage is.

well you do have to take into account the fact that people who have the option of being waitlisted dont necessarily place their names for consideration on the actual list. maybe about a 1000 people actually did so. and 19-25% is actually not bad at all, considering that this IS a waiting list. idk honestly. im just remaining hopeful bc i can’t accept the reality of things haha. ive literally dreamt of being accepted to NYU, but i guess things arent going my way. i can only hope and pray to God that things finally do. even if they do accept like 5 people off the waiting list this year, i will maybe finally get some sleep after getting closure. good luck all nonetheless! where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Those statistics don’t really show much. I know of a man who was rejected ad flew over to nyu to beg for a spot. He is now in nyu. I’m considering doing the same if i get rejected. Haha

@Meiday: How does that work? That’s kind of crazy…I can’t imagine someone being persistent after someone said no several times.

I’m not sure exactly how it worked. But I know it happened. But for someone to be so persistent in front of the dean of admissions is quite amazing, for me and probably the dean.

Maybe xD Brown was my #1 and even I don’t have the balls to do that.

My friend got rejected to a local college here and her grandmother called them and got it turned into an acceptance, but I doubt that would happen at a competitive college.

You never know unless you try. But, I’m quite annoyed that I have to wait until monday to check my mailbox for any glimmer of hope.

good luck meiday! let us know how it goes!

I will. Monday is also when spring break ends for me…i must suffer through an entire day…Hopefully my mailman didn’t mail it to the other house with a similar address as mine. I should sue for mental anguish Haha
