@tahtah’s earlier post - Lol thank you for your encouraging words =] It’s alright though, I think I was probably nailed for not having many ECs, which aren’t nearly as prominent a factor for the UCs.

I applied to CAS for biology, which seems like a lot of people did. :o

@666666 - Haha yeah! I was just sorta…surprised I guess. (I didn’t realize NYU’s overall stats were skewed by the other colleges) I am currently deciding between LA, Davis, and USC. What about you? :)

no, i dont think its alphabetized or organized chronologically by waitlist placement, or even ranked for that matter. we’re all going to be re-evaluated i believe, to take up the spots of people who did not want to go (which is obvious, but they literally want to “replace” them, as in finding people who were similar in many respects)

@ 666666, I’ve been wondering about the same thing. they were quite ambiguous on the waitlist letter. and there is nothing really on the site about waitlist options. it’s really our judgment!

and OMG i realized that since they took soooo many people from the waitlist last year, they might refrain from doing so this year… ■■■. although you never know ahhhhhhhhhh

@tahtah. I know what you mean! I hate waiting, but at least it’s better than a flat out rejection…and I’m still debating on whether not i should update them, cuz I don’t want to seem too pleading if you know what I mean…
last year they accepted more than half of their waitlist…hopefully they wont refrain from doing so this year. and considering the economy, i think alot of ppl who are accepted wont be able to pay just like last year

yay for being optimistic!!! btw, everyone, i am SO grateful that we can all talk about our difficulties and help each other out! i think that a full out update would be a bit too much, so try to be concise and make yourself look good nothing more than a page! thats what i learned after getting deferred from brown for ED haha (idk why i even applied, it was SO out of my league)

@666666 - that’s awesome! I’m touring SoCal Wednesday to visit UCLA, USC, and UCSD : D Were you surprised by any chance to be wait listed at NYU, or did you want to go there?

@tahtah - You have one of the most optimistic attitudes I’ve seen; I really hope/think you will make it! : )

P.s. By update, do you guys mean that NYU’s wait list requires an essay or some sort of writing?

@maylix: my parents don’t have time for visiting schools…so I guess I’ll just have to do the virtual tour
but i was surprised to get into UCLA and to be waitlisted in NYU actually, cuz my stats aren’t too great…=D what about you?

@666666 - Oh no really? I hope its possible for you to get the feel of the campuses through virtual tours! Where do you think you’re most likely to go? :)

@boom - Well then…guess I’m not going on the waitlist :D

@ChargerFans - Congrats to your son, where is he choosing to go? (I am personally in between UCs vs. USC)

Maylix, my son is an athlete and most likely he’s going to choose NYU or University of the Pacific. I have a son at UC Berkeley now and I’m concerned about the budget cuts and think that the public schools in California are a little scary right now. We are going to be appealing aid at NYU as it’s significantly higher than what was offered at UOP and also Vassar where he also got in. We are awaiting the USC package. I’m willing to pay more for NYU but it needs to close not such a big difference.

@ChargerFans : My parents feel the same way. They’re going to try and get more money out of NYU, since they don’t want to pay significantly more for me to go there over BU. I know at the end of the day, they will still let me go to NYU no matter what, especially since I am going to be paying for 1/2 of it :P

Does anyone know how the waitlist works? Like if I applied to CAS, im “competing” against other CAS people for any CAS openings? or it works differently?

GAH!!! I’m am so annoyed a frustrated!!! Apparently a 33 superscore, Ghostbusters, and a tons of Ap’s is enough to get you waitlisted as an Chinese male applying to Biology!! Ugh. I am appealing this tomorrow with my principal.
