NYU

does NYU allow you to study at two different schools? i have interests in vis arts/animation and music, so do they allow studying at both tisch and steinhardt, or would i have to choose between the two?

also, someone told me about gallatin, where i guess you can pick the specifics of your major, but im not sure how it works so if anyone has some information about that i’d appreciate it.

The Gallatin website sets it all out in a lot of detail.

There are some cross-school double majors, but I don’t know specifics. In most cases you can do a cross-school minor, where you minor in a different school than your major is in, and most of the time you have a set amount of credits you can take outside of your school. So if you want to major in music tech at Steinhardt but you really like visual art, you can use all your extra credits and/or get an art minor in Tisch. There’s some classes in Tisch and Stern that are major-specific and you can’t take, however.

Note that I’m in CAS so I’m not 100% sure if it also works this way outside of CAS but I’m fairly certain.
