Does anyone know why the colleges come out with their O-week themes now even though all the freshmen that will be in their college don’t know which college they are in yet?

@CollegeBound947 I suppose it’s for the excitement of those current students preparing for O-Week. From my understanding it’s a pretty fun time for them all as well. And by the time O-Week does come around, those admitted students will have found out which college they belong to (I’ve heard you find out in June or July).

Hanszen is El DoradO-Week (:

And to answer your question of why the colleges come out with their themes so early, it’s because this is the time when advisors are being interviewed/selected, after which they start planning for O-Week. Knowing the theme allows them to come up with a name for their group as well as T-shirt designs and other things that have to be planned/designed.

Jones’ theme is Oh, the Places You’ll GO-Week! It should be a lot of fun. The coordinators are a phenomenal group of people. They’re currently hard at work putting together a team of advisors. Future Jonesians are in good hands. <3

Will Rice is 90’s 2.0-Week and I’m pretty sure Lovett is doing Pixar StudiO-Week, or something like that.

Are you guys on the planning committee for your res college? It seems awfully early to know the themes for nest year’s freshman class!

Not early at all. Have to have enough time to have interview/selection of advisors/fellows for each college. Then interview/selection of co-advisors/fellows for each college. From there people can start planning and preparing for O-week. People have to be able to do this this semester because not everyone is in Houston for the summer. There’s a lot that needs to be done with the theme over the summer that need to be created/purchased ahead of time. And a lot of other factors.

Does anyone know what theme Weiss is going to have?

Martel: Sub-ZerO week
Duncan: Somewhere Over the RainbO week
Hanszen: El DoradO-Week
Jones: Oh, the Places You’ll GO-Week
Will Rice: 90’s 2.0-Week
Lovett: Pixar StudiO-Week
Baker: Flappers, Jazz, and RadiO-Week
Brown: RodeO-Week
McMurtry: 00-Week (007)
Sid: O-Week Game On

I don’t think Wiess has an o-week theme. If I remember correctly, Wiess never has a theme. It’s one of their traditions or quirks.

Wow, all of these look like such cool ideas.
