Oberlin's Philosophy department and Creative Writing scene

Hey guys, I'm an international hoping to end my procrastination right on 15th of January and send in my application to Oberlin.

I'd like to know about aspects of the school that the website doesn't seem to have though.

What's the creative writing scene like at Oberlin? I understand that there's a creative writing major. Is the creative writing scene restricted to students of the major or is it more democratic? (Writing is my life, but I don't intend to major in it)

I understand that the philosophy department has produced many prominent philosophers over the course of the decades, but what's the state of its top program phd-placement in recent years?

I suggest that you submit your application and then if admitted go to an admitted students function and get answers to these important questions there. Creative writing classes are in demand and non-majors may have trouble getting into them. This is true in many schools other than Oberlin. In general Oberlin grads do very well in grad school admissions. But only the Philosophy Dept. can answer your question about how well their grads do in their applications to top grad schools. Good luck.

Look at how well Lena Dunham did!

Hey OP, just pointing out that your post is a sophisticated form of procrastination :-)

Get that app in :-)
