Obviously low chances, but a shot?

MIT is obviously a highly competitive school that is a reach for any student.
I'm just looking for my relative chances.

GPA:
5.07/5.5 (This equates to mostly A's and A+'s)

I have taken all honors and APs.
US-5
Chem-5
Comp Sci A-5
Comp Sci AB-5
World-4 (didn't take AP World if that makes a difference)

SAT
790CR, 790M, 770W(11 essay)

SAT II
Math II - 800
Chem - 800
US - 760

Awards-
Spanish Excellence Award
Computer Programming Award
probably some random ones i have to remember. . .? not sure

Recommendations:
i dont know at this point.
hopefully an excellent one from a local professor

ECs
Track and Field since 8th grade
Newspaper managing editor
Model UN chair
Model UN club public affairs officer
research at local med school
others that probably aren't important enough to waste your time with.

So. . .what are your thoughts?

obviously you have a shot… you’ve got some pretty good academics

yea i guess i phrased that incorrectly. I know I have a shot, but im just wondering how good that shot is. You could say that Im worried i dont stand out enough.

it’s difficult to evaluate exactly how good your chances are. im only saying that because some people who have really good credentials get rejected while some who don’t get in. however, judging by your activities and academics, you are probably in better shape than the majority of mit applicants.
i hope that was helpful :)

Well, of all the applications MIT gets, some just get loled at and thrown out. Of those that remain, I’d say you’re fairly mid-pack, so with some luck you might get in.

Messiah, that seems like a very accurate assessment. I guess I’ll just have to hope for some luck! Thanks

So thanks everyone for the help, im gonna close this thread now because ive realized it serves little purpose.

So would you want us to throw out a percentage chance at you?

Do you think it would help? Either way, whatever we say is just a shot in the dark and it doesn’t actually mean you won’t get in either.
