Oct. 6 Essay content

I'm curious. What did you guys write your Oct. 6 essay about? Also, add which topic you had "Identity or (the other one. not sure what it is)"

uhh identity, i wrote about how it must be created. i wrote about odysseus and how he created an identity of a valient soldier through his couragous journey and Carlos Rueda from imagining argentina and how he became known as a brave civilian because of the stories he told.

Originality, Thomas Jefferson and the first handover of 1 political party to another.

Identity. MLK Jr. And Forrest Gump.

Seriously.

i had originality. i wrote about christopher columbus, because it was columbus day that monday, lol, and thats all i could think of. but then i thought of some more examples: watson and crick, and charles darwin. i hope i get at least a ten.

Identity: Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne, Walden by Thoreau, and a quote from Emerson.

Identity: Scarlet Letter by Hawthorne and Invisible Man by Ellison

Identity: Timothy McVeigh and Joseph Stalin. Dont ask, it made sense at the time

My examples were: Scarlett Letter, MLK, and John Maxwell (writer of a book called "winning with people" used in my leadership class)

Identity: The Great Gatsby and a personal experience

Identity. Ayn Rand's The Fountainhead, explaining how everyone's inherent identity of egoism is present at birth, but is also made malleable by society.

I had the essay topic "should we admire heroes or celebrities more?" I talked about Paris Hilton and Princess Diana

Lol I talked about Paris Hilton too. What one of the essay graders is her fan. He would give us a score of at most 2 :D .

haha well nobody else came to mind. I also added Britney Spears. think i'd get another point? lol

Lol...i'm not sure about my essay...I mean, i started out fine...it was going fine. I mentioned nelson mandela in my first example.

But the time was running out...i couldn't really do very well on my other two heros...though i had the info in my head.

Conclusion was rather haphazard too :P

So...let's see...
8 should be a good guess..

Identity and I took a new approach. I let them know I was an adult. Think it will earn me more points? I also, for the first time, took both sides of the argument. I said that some of my identity was given to me by my parents as a child--such as my identity as a Michigander or my identity as a care-giver and oldest sibling. And that other parts of my identity I have chosen for myself as an adult, such as being a teacher and mother (neither of which is true, but I thought I might connect with the reader more that way).

I'll let you know how my experiment worked in 2 days....

haha we should write on the SATs "i have the essay in my head but not enough time to write it down" i bet we'd get perfect scores lolz

I had the celebrity one. Talked about Paris Hilton, Snoop Dogg, Gatsby, and Macbeth.

Clearly went well haha

seems like everybody talked about Paris Hilton eh? it is clearly obvious that being notorious is making people more famous than being great these days..

I spent two hours reviewing every classic I had ever read the night before the test. I ended up only using examples from real life. Post-it notes and Conan O'Brien...
