Hi all,
I did quite well on the Math and Writing sections (800 each), but didn’t go above 700 on the CR section. I have taken the SAT 3 times already. I am a Junior and I got a 2280. Should I retake? I see most everybody suggesting 3 times is the max that most Universities like to see. I was hoping for 2300+ as I was shooting for the Ivy’s but that might be a long shot now…
Any advice?

Are you kidding? Your scores are great and taking it a 4th time to squeeze out an extra 20 points might make you look a tad obsessive. Cracking 2300 will not make or break your acceptance or rejection to Ivies or other competitive schools.

Your scores are great!
Your score puts you in the pool that gets looked at…the rest depends on your essay, recommendations, grades etc, and most importantly what they are looking for to build their class in that particular year…maybe they need a tuba player, or a certain ethnicity. It’s not personal. Good luck.

@josevi Thanks! I actually just went through the official SAT guide in detail. I also took a ton of practice tests, analyzed where I was going wrong after each practice test and focused on those in the next round of studying.
